When the cops join the push-up challenge… you know we’re counting. 😂💪

Keeping StartsWithTen going with @thompson_c17 and @sgtrobitaille — and this time we had @sgtjponsioen / @jp_out.of.the.blue and a couple of @transitpolicebc members jump in with us. 👊🚔

It’s about more than the push-ups. #StartsWithTen is about building mental resilience, consistency and the ability to keep going when things get uncomfortable.

Although, after hearing me count 7… 7… 7… Sgt Julien was probably wondering how I ever passed the ETHOS. 😂

That’s what I love about this community — applicants, members and officers can train together, support each other and have a few laughs along the way.

And yes… it’s FREE. No membership, no ego — just good people pushing each other to improve.

I wish to thank the Toronto Police Service Cycling Club for nominating me for the 2026 TPAAA Art Keay Award.

Since joining the Service I have always enjoyed the support the TPAAA provides. From the Division site Reps (who keep our gyms well appointed) and our team chairs who organize various activities ; Your work is immensely appreciated! The connections I’ve built through sport have helped enriched my career. I believe the physical challenges I’ve embarked all help me stay sharp for duty.

The Art Keay award is particularly special because of my interest through #itstartswithten
I hope I am following Art’s ideals by encouraging our first responders in fitness, wellness, and camaraderie. by @sgtrobitaille

Many hands make light work: It was a wonderful morning to join the dozen volunteers helping @thechildrensbreakfastclubs prepare, and distribute, Thanksgiving food hampers.

It was wonderful to have the Humber College for forensic technology students as part of our team! We packed items in record time and all the groups prepared an out 1000 hampers.

Very happy to connect with our local partners who are distributing the hampers to the families in need. by @sgtrobitaille

After last week’s 700 kms to the Canadian Police and Peace Officers Memorial, you’d think I would appreciate a break from my bike saddle… But, no! This morning’s nice weather, low winds and fall colours along the gravel roads were calling!

It was a beauty morning exploring the Greater Golden Horseshoe! Happy to stop and use my upper body too.. #itstartswithten is a simple attainable and free exercise you can do wherever you are!

After this summer’s heavy wave of bereavement, it is time to rekindle my participation in this initiative, and you can expect I will reach out to all kinds of people that can join me for a fun set of #itstartswithten

@thompson_c17 @j_sally23 @garyizawa got us started, @robyn_k9x @police_training_vancouver @jtruong2838 and others have all kept things going.. Mike’s into 725 days of this initiative! Can you start your day 1?!

The goal: Improving your physical and mental preparation, to handle first response work!

@lawlman113 had ONE job… and somehow it became a life-or-death decision. 😂

We’re back at it with #StartsWithTen, supporting @thompson_c17 and @sgtrobitaille with the 10 push-ups. 💪

This time Blair got promoted to official counter… and immediately realized he had a problem. 😂

Count too easy ➡️ he knows he’s running laps next Saturday.
Count “correctly” ➡️ everyone else suffers.

The problem? He doesn’t know I’m making him run laps regardless. 😂🏃‍♂️

That’s what I love about this group. We can push each other hard, take the training seriously and still have a laugh while doing it.

If you’re preparing for the POPAT, police application fitness testing or a career in policing, come train with us. Our FREE police applicant & POPAT conditioning program is built around community, accountability and helping each other improve.

No membership. No ego. Just good people, hard work and questionable counting skills. 😂👊

Tour de Force Bike: Manitoulin Island

This weekend was particularly impactful because the bridge to Manitoulin Island was dedicated in honour OPP PC Marc Hovingh. 💙 It was also significant to ride with officers/ first responders that responded that tragic day, in Nov 2020.
Our bike route took us to the cemetery where Marc was was laid to rest and we stopped to honour him.

We rode hard on Saturday and enjoyed a great 140k tour of the island.
We got back on our bikes Sunday and were led by one of the members of S.O.L.E. 💫

Was very nice to meet Sandy, the Executive Director for the @ontarioprovincialpolice Youth Foundation- It is an agency that works hard to improve the future for children. This weekend they donated bicycles, fishing gear and sports equipment plus held a bike rodeo for kids in Mindemoya.

A great big thank you to the @opp_hsd Motor Squad for a great job as our island escort.

The @heroesinlife motto is: Heroes in life, not death.
✨We will remember them. taken in Manitoulin Island ,Ontario by @sgtrobitaille

I’m pretty sure I need to work on my counting skills… 😂 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7, 7, 7, 7, 7, 8, 9, 10!

We haven’t posted them in a while, but we’ve definitely been doing them. 💪 Supporting @thompson_c17 and @sgtrobitaille with their #StartsWithTen movement and keeping those reps going.

It’s a good reminder that small, consistent habits add up — especially when you’re preparing for the POPAT or a police application. You don’t always need a massive workout; sometimes you just need to show up and get the reps done.

Our FREE police applicant & POPAT conditioning program is all about showing up, working hard, supporting each other and getting better together. No membership. No ego. Just a crew that wants to see you succeed.

We’re training tomorrow — come join us. 👊🔥

Motivation Monday: Think you’d like to do something new and serve your city?

PC Yu is a great example of someone that moved from a service industry job into policing! I was happy to watch his progression through the process. Last week, I was happy to be on the same team with him at the CNE.

If you’re thinking of a career change, head over to the TPS Careers page and get started! by @sgtrobitaille

If you’re a first responder or looking to get into the profession- you’ll quickly find that being prepared to respond both physically and mentally to emergencies is an ongoing mission.

Earlier this summer we experienced the death of several colleagues and recently there have been additional losses. Compounding things, this past summer, and maybe delaying grieving, was the rigours of large events requiring everyone to forge on..
It would be easy to relegate working out to just our days off or when time permits- but strive for ongoing training. It helps keep you sharp and helps dampen the strain pr stress you accumulate along the way. A little everyday, something, with consistency, stacks upon itself!

Give a look at @thompson_c17 @robyn_k9x @garyizawa @j_sally23 They help lead this charge! #itstartswithten isn’t just a strategy for the ideal workout days- you can do something quick almost anywhere. Give it a try! by @sgtrobitaille

Sharing photos from my recent trip to BC.
Have always enjoyed being a shift worker and being able to travel with a combo of regular days off and leave. I also like seeing other policing and first responders when we travel.
This trip was meant for a big event I had signed up for and then travel before others do epic things too. But, wildfires in the area we first visited caused us to change up our plans.
We redirected to areas where we hoped tourists wouldn’t be any extra burden on the community & responders. Relocating, we ended up seeing places we had not initially thought we’d explore.
Some of the best ways to check out new areas, in my view, is on a run or bike ride. I was glad to have packed both my road and trail shoes and rented a pedal assist e-bike too. - Saw some cool rivers and waters accumulating red chinook salmon.
Was cool to see some of the smaller places like Hope,
Chilliwack, and outdoor havens like Whistler and Squamish. Interesting to spot the RCMP detachment right in the village at Whistler.
Toward the end of the trip, popped in a VPD Community Station to turn in my unused canister of bear spray, as you can’t fly with them.

I wish our schedule would have also permitted a workout visit with @police_training_vancouver .. Was so close to their training ground.. Next time! taken in British Columbia by @sgtrobitaille
