If I could do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing! 💜•••Congrats to EVERYONE that completed @ironmantri #AtlanticCity70point3, especially all of the folks from @district_triathlon, @teamrwb and @dctriclub. Although the weather made for it to be a tough race, everyone came and accomplished their goal. 🤩•••Speaking of goals, I’m certainly happy that I accomplished two of my own: 1. Doing better than my previous 70.3s (previous PR was 6:38:52).2. Getting under 6 hours. Happy to say than I hit that PR with a finish time of 5:58:16! 🎉•••While the saying is “if you want to go fast go alone, and if you want to go far go with a group”, I have a saying of my own! If you want to go far and fast, swim with @dctriclub/ @dctcmastersswim, bike with @rapha/ @rapha_rcc, run with @_tracktuesdays & @districtrunningcollective, and TRI WITH @district_triathlon! 🏊🏽‍♂️🚴🏻‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️ by @shipphappens215

So y’all… I have an idea. Well, a goal. I want to buy the athletic facility in North Philly, down the street from Gratz. There is a track, field, and an indoor pool that isn’t operational. For folks that don’t know, this pool is the same one from the movie Pride, where Jim Ellis started “a swim team for troubled teens at the @philaparkandrec. Similar to @phillyyouthbasketball’s new site, I want to work with orgs like @studentsrunphl and @prym_multisport (give them both a follow) as the space will primarily serve as a one to expose students in Philly to non-traditional sports (swim, bike, run, etc), and provide other programming (workforce development, financial literacy, academic support). There is no call to action at the moment, just sharing so it doesn’t just live and die in my notebook/brain. Also sharing to invite anyone that may have a similar vision to chat. It’ll be fun 💪🏽🌀🏃🏽 Maybe even legendary 🫶🏽@thetrackjawn @phillytrackjawn @perfecttimingmultisport by @shipphappens215

I told my family that a few words came to mind as graduation approached: Gratitude, Opportunity and Responsibility:Gratitude - I’m grateful for all that has come my way. Not only the good, but quite a bit of the bad. If it weren’t for those times, I wouldn’t know that I can handle whatever comes my way! Opportunity - Everyone doesn’t get opportunities like this, yet I did. I work a lot, but I know that it isn’t all how hard someone works. So thank you to all the people that helped a 15 year old soon to be mother raise her son. Thank you for pouring into me to ensure that I had an opportunity to be exposed to something different. To all those that helped get me this far, thanks for giving me the opportunity to learn. Responsibility - I once heard someone say, “if you get a seat at the table, make sure you make your presence felt... If you want to be a fly on the wall, fly ya ass out and give up the seat.” I’ve never simply wanted a seat, and never could think of any reason I couldn’t find a way to get at any table i wanted to be at. From uptown to downtown, if I get a seat at the table, I understand the responsibility I have to make it clear that I was there while supporting those that follow. The best part about it all is that it’s just the beginning. @DardenMBA, thank you for such a transformative experience. It was truly an honor to have the opportunity to learn with and from the best 🫶🏽🎓✅ by @shipphappens215

🚀 First Race…First Place 🚀😮‍💨Felt good to get back to NJ State Tri, legit one of the best tri’s in the country. Just shoutout to the PTJ Fam for bringing home 1st Place in the Women’s Relay Team (Brook, @shellsandqueso, & Jenn), and 4th Place in the Men’s Relay Team (@mind_changa, @oberunning_, & @rio.boomin), and to @wheresfeather for finishing the Olympic Distance Solo!
