Shutter & Light Collective is excited to partner with Photographic Center Northwest to announce an Open Call for Submissions for CURRENTS, a group photography exhibition opening this November!!

We’re looking for work from across the analog photography spectrum, bringing together different approaches that reflect the distinct analog photography culture growing throughout the Northwest.

CURRENTS will bring together artists, processes, and photography communities from across the region, with work curated through analog process, visual style, and storytelling.

Submission deadline : OCTOBER 1st. Instructions, and deadlines can be found at the link in the @shutterandlightco bio.

Community Partner Spotlight: Puget Sound Pinholers Society

@pugetsoundpinholers brings together people with a curiosity for alternative photographic processes through workshops, zines, and how-to guides that make pinhole photography more accessible. If you’ve attended one of their events or are an affiliated pinholer, we’d love for you to represent them by submitting your analog work to CURRENTS, curated by @shutterandlightco and @photocenternw .

Selected artists can have a Puget Sound Pinholers Society badge on their artwork label. You can list more than one photo community in your submission for the opportunity to receive multiple badges.

We’re proud to welcome Seattle Film Club as a Community Partner for CURRENTS, a group photography exhibition opening at PCNW on November 12 and celebrating analog photography across the Northwest. 
@seattlefilmclub has helped shape and grow Seattle’s analog photography scene through meetups, themed photo walks, studio sessions, zines, artist talks, and curated shows. If you’ve participated in an SFC event or have simply been inspired by the community, rep Seattle Film Club by submitting your analog work to CURRENTS, curated by @shutterandlightco and @photocenternw .

The discussion will be moderated by alumni @gwen_emminger, featuring @jennyhansendas of @theseattlelightroom, @cian.m.hayes of @solas.gallery , and Brian @matevago_ and Danny @_davok representing Shutter & Light Collective @shutterandlightco.

Hear from local voices about what draws them to curatorial work, how they balance established and emerging photographers, and how photography shapes – and is shaped by – the spaces where we encounter it.
