POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
What. A. Book Launch!
Thank you #Bengaluru You remain the best!

A bright Sunday morning. 80 super engaged kids and adults.
Laughter, giggle, roll off the floor and some bits of day dreaming and yoga.
One hour of super engaged quiz followed by an impromptu session with @touchofwild who turned up to bless the book, prove that he does look like the illustration that @sunainacoelho made of him (We checked with 7 year olds who never lie) and stayed back to share his crazy stories of doing research on plants and animal poop in Pakke Tiger Reserve.

A lot of friends - new and old - dropped by, so thank you all! It was lovely to see you.

@bicblr did a wonderful setup. Also, tagging my publishers @wwfindia, @juggernaut.in @indianpittabooks and the never tiring amaze of an editor @anitamani73

This video - which was the funniest thing ever - was timely taken by @shon.zira (you can hear her laugh in the background). She worked tirelessly on this book as well. I’m lucky to count her as a friend.

I have lots of updates and reviews to share about this book, but I’m off to create my new one. Meanwhile, buy the book to know more about this scientific obsession with Basmati rice and wild poop.

And, if you smell Basmati rice in a forest, you know who did it.

It’s out now, pardon the pun!

A book for children on wild poop? How perfectly, umm, appropriate!
When @AnitaMani73 approached me to write this book for @indianpittabooks and @wwfindia, I giggled a yes.

To write a science book on the most inapproriate topic. To tackle stigma head on, to challenge my writing with a face-off with everything filthy. And bring out the fun, the humour in everyday messes of life.

Oh, yes. This was meant for me. But it wasn’t only me who did it. Other than Anita, there was @ng_neha @shon_zira who nurtured and loved it at WWF India. @sunainacoelho who brought out the humour through illustrations, and @maithili_doshi who did the fantastic design.

THE BIG BOOK OF WILD POOP is the wild, wild west of poop. It is peppered with facts, with giggles, with anecdotes and activities and even a superhuman comic character called SUPERSCAT.

It tells tales of how whale poop cools the planet, how to a dung beetle it’s a bowlful of multivitamins and how for deer it’s social media. Kids are going to love it and giggle with it. They’re going to learn to love nature with it.

It’s available in bookstores near you - online and offline. You’ll hear about when I’m in your city to do some filthy fun activities. Till then, wish me love and luck, folks!

For now, celebrate with me! Congratulate me, please. This book deserves it.

We refuse to grow up.
We giggle like 7 year olds
Write for 10 year olds or 2 year olds.
Make poop puns and laugh at fart.
Get fascinated by train stations and are in awe of snakes.

Have just come back home after @bookaroolitfest in Delhi and then in Bhopal. And schools and meetings and chatter.

Met and re-met wonderful people who work passionately in the children books industry since many, many years. Realised that I’m part of this wonderful weird too.

(Bhopal was beautiful. Thanks Swati and Venkatesh for bringing me along!)

Since I’ve already been tagged in all the posey photos, posting the weird stuff i did.
After all, isn’t that what children festivals are all about?

Confession: I make poop puns, especially in front of children. It was my first time at @neevliteraturefestival and perhaps I should’ve behaved and asked folks to take photos of me signing books, surrounded by kids, playing nice and posing with books. Instead….

I hugged many old friends like @janedesuza and @mala.writes, made a couple of new friends, met @sunainacoelho for the first time and ofc hugged her too. Forgot to take selfies with many others like @mothership80 @devikarangachari @stories_from_stones (congrats on the two long lists!) @green_humour or thank @bijalvv for her recent advice. (thanks B!)

Ate a fab lunch at the author’s lounge. Drank A LOT of coffee. Did a super energetic workshop on The Big Book of Wild Poop. And made a LOT of bad, weird poop puns.

Got over my fear of reading my own work aloud. That’s a real fear folks. Did a reading from Kungfu Aunty Versus Garbage Monsters which made the book sell out at the festival!

Later in the day, found out that The Big Book of Wild Poop is now longlisted in two major children literature awards - @crosswordbookawards and @thebkawards.

So there you go. I’m winning with poop! Hah!
