WOKE UP ON THE COVER OF A MAGAZINE IN NYC 😍🤭 @laydymag

When I first was inspired to do this photoshoot, I reached out to Lynsey & had just decided I wanted to start modeling back in 2019 after ending my soccer career overseas. I didn’t know what I wanted to do next but I knew I wanted to create and start my journey in entrepreneurship.

Growing up, my mom had always taken us kids to different modeling jobs, loved taking our photos and would encourage us to express ourselves. Modeling has allowed me to feel confident and unapologetically myself no matter who I choose to show up to be that day & I love how much I’ve grown through this industry.

I’ve always adored this photo of my mom so much as a young model, I decided to recreate this photo of her ready to start my modeling journey!!! (Swipe right 🤭)

6 years later & my bestie also had plans of her own to launch her own media company & magazine @laydymag 📸 I hired Lynsey when I was at Flatstick as a social media manager after knowing her since high school and creatively, we always clicked.

I feel so lucky to be apart of this journey and be represented on the cover of her first issue 🥹❤️ Growing up, I always wanted to see women in magazines that looked like me. REPRESENTATION MATTERS — it’s why my mom continued to model & carve space for women of color in this industry and it’s why I continue to dream BIG — you are limitless ✨ remember that ☝🏽

This trail was great for our toddler to run around on the gravel forest road until reaching the trail, we put Bellemy in the backpack once we reached more of a downhill to the falls. Definitely recommend & so much fun for the whole family! Plus, we saw an engagement 🤭

The art of showing up for yourself, your babies, and the world around you even when things feel hard >>>

Can we talk about that? I cried twice today. Spiraled. Took deep breaths. Reached out to my people & then showed up anyways. All while remembering to eat, tend to my kids & shut the voice out in my brain that’s trying to keep me in places I’ve outgrown — still experiencing some PPD in this way. It may look like I’m doing it all but I’m not. I’m trying, failing, pivoting, re-evaluating & then starting over again.

Giving myself grace during this season has been so incredibly hard but I know I’ll look back at these long, hard days & feel so proud of HER 💌

Things I learned from Toy Story 5 🤠

1. We don’t have to fear technology, but we do need to set boundaries with it. It’s changing the world our kids are growing up in, and they need our guidance as they learn how to use it.

2. And no matter how much the world changes, kids still need play. They need chances to imagine together, make friends, and figure out how to connect in real life. Sometimes our job is as simple as putting the screens down and helping them say, “Want to play?”

3. Kids shouldn’t have to give up what they love to fit in. Bonnie starts to wonder if she’s too old for toys because the other kids are on their screens. I want my kids to know it’s okay to like what they like.

4. Friendship takes practice. It’s hard to put yourself out there, even as a kid. We can help by giving our kids chances to invite someone to play, handle an awkward moment, and try again.

5. Pay attention to what’s underneath the screen time. Bonnie wants to feel included. That’s a reminder to ask what our kids are looking for when they reach for a device—connection, comfort, or just something to do.
