At the Second Chapter of Songs of the Stone with HSBC ‘Live the Legacy’, the night unfolded through music, tradition and shared cultural memory.

An evening that reminded us how powerful legacy can be when it is carried through sound.

Everyone present shaped the evening in its own way, coming together to create a memorable gathering beneath the timeless presence of Qutub Minar.

A special thank you to all our partners for being part of this journey.

One evening in Rome, Simar Malhotra visited the Colosseum and saw how a historic space could still mean something to people today. Then came the thought: why not bring live music into India's own monuments? "I call it the phoenix moment," she says. She had started early. At 17, her first novel was published, a story about young people having the agency to create change. She went on to Stanford and Columbia Business School, knowing she wanted to return to India. In 2019, she did, and the first Inkpot India Conclave brought together people from different creative fields. A year later, COVID paused the project, and she shifted to her family's logistics business. That business is what took her to Italy. Since then, a sitarist and a flautist have performed at the Qutub complex under Inkpot's Songs of the Stone, and every month, 70 to 80 volunteers join Inkpot to clean a heritage site, usually followed by a walk led by storytellers. It started with one evening in Rome. "I realized that this is what I want to do."

Under the moonlit mystical domes of Delhi's monuments, history and culture are coming together in ways least expected.

@simarmalhotra12 , the Stanford- and Columbia-educated founder of @inkpotindia_ , is reimagining the city’s cultural spaces with Songs of the Stone which brings classical concerts to places like Qutub Minar and Purana Qila. Also the author of two novels, she organises heritage walks and clean-up drives to maintain the beauty of these iconic landmarks.

The next concert of the series features @amritakaurmusic live at Purana Qila on Oct 10-11.

Here is my interview with Simar for @global_indian_official

India’s food history is a living archive — shaped by centuries of cultivation, and grains that have nourished communities across generations. Some remain a part of our everyday diets, while others have slowly disappeared from our tables.

The Living Table returns with Lost Grains of India, an intimate evening of conversation, storytelling, and a specially curated five-course dinner by @begreenr. The evening brings together nutritionist and author @kavita.devgan, Greenr founder @nitindixit, and Inkpot founder and author @simarmalhotra12 to explore the grains, foods and traditions that have shaped the way we eat.

Join us on 26th September, 6.30 PM onwards at Greenr, GK-1.

Purana Qila holds centuries of stories within its walls — of empires, rulers and legends that existed long before us.

And perhaps the most beautiful way to meet this history is through art, music and the stories we choose to tell.

That is what we hope to create with Songs of the Stone — moments where history feels alive, art feels immersive, and strangers come together over a shared sense of wonder.

Because sometimes, when we look closely enough at the stories of the past, we find little pieces of ourselves in them too.

A new chapter of Songs of the Stone. And perhaps our most special one yet.✨ taken in Purana Qila by @simarmalhotra12
