A decade and a half down… and hopefully a whole load more to go 🙏🤍

In truth i received a whole load of event images and got overly excited 🫢🤍.

The stuff that matters — the real lessons — don’t always come with a certificate or credentials. They come from the people, the setbacks, the collaborations and the moments you chose to keep going anyway.

🤍

And for 2022’s Grand Finale, apparently I have a pneumothorax that refuses to stay down after a chest drain and will require an operation most likely.

I had a sharp pain in my chest 2 weeks ago, was taken into hospital and told I had a spontaneous pneumothorax in my left lung (known as a lung pop or lung collapse). I was told it was just “really bad luck”, I actually laughed and said “well of course it is”.

Due to the fact it was small I was told it should hopefully go on it’s own. 2 weeks later it got noticeably bigger and I had a chest drain placed to help get rid of it on Friday.
On Saturday afternoon I suddenly felt like I couldn’t swallow and was under water and the pain was next level.
Turns out I developed surgical emphysema.

They removed the chest drain last night and I was told this morning after an X-ray that the pneumothorax has returned and the emphysema doesn’t seem to be getting better.
So apparently now I need an operation on my left lung.

I’ll be honest: I am SO OVER all of this “bad luck” and really am very upset that:
I’ve been separated from my babies, especially Skye (I feel like my right arm has been taken).
I won’t get to spend the first night in our new home tomorrow (yes moving day is TOMORROW)… a house we had grafted and worked SO HARD for.

I’m trying to pump but my milk supply doesn’t seem to be great, and my mum/Jason are bringing Skye in for 2 of her feeds.
I’m panicking I’ll run out of milk but will keep pumping and hope for the best I guess.

I can’t do anything about it all and I’m stuck here for the foreseeable… I am sad, angry, frustrated and I miss my babies more than words can say.
Beyond grateful for some unbelievable people in our lives at the moment, because we admit it - we really need the help just now.

2022: You have been one of “unlucky” Health scares within our family, thanks for the lessons… we’ve learnt them now, so please just stop.
2023: YOU BETTER BE NICE TO US.

I asked Jason to take this photo because I got really upset and panicked that this would be the last time I’d feed my girl. I hope not.

Everyone rolls their eyes when get on my soap box and preach about mineral makeup. And fair enough— we work in aesthetics “we aren’t make-up artists”…
But here’s what jane iredale actually is: skin advocacy all the way to the final step.

A decade and a half in aesthetics, I’ve watched the same thing happen over and over: patient leaves clinic after a procedure, is given clear post operative instructions, gets home, and layers whatever makeup they were already using.
We tell them not to. They do it anyway. And if that makeup is comedogenic or occlusive? We’re adding complications before we’ve even started.

I’m going to be transparent: I’ve done this myself. Cystic acne. Layering makeup on top of products I’d spent money on.

The proposition is simple: we are controlling the narrative and eliminating external risk factors with patients.

A brand doesn’t last decades without longevity. They just work. Especially for congestion, acne-prone skin, post-procedure—which is basically everyone I see.
Also mineral make up brands are not boring anymore, innovation is consistent🌟🤓✌️

So if I’m telling a patient they can’t wear makeup for 24–48 hours, the conversation shifts: *What happens after?* And the answer I’m comfortable with is - here is what I use. Take it or leave it, but it’s a pretty important step.

Because skin advocacy doesn’t stop at the clinic door.

I work with this brand, but if you’ve followed me for years you’ll know I use what I use:
Because.they.work.

That’s all from me.
I’ll get off my soap box now.

WOW, what an event. 🤍 Two days at Professional Beauty London with @professionalbeauty.ukshows, and honestly, it was INCREDIBLE. We are still buzzing (and very tired, long drive home included 😅) @excellondon

A weekend of magic to mark my girl turning 4.

I hope you both remember the magic of this weekend kiddos.
Not because it was perfect, but because it was ours.

I’m not going to lie: my babies turning 4 and 6 has hit me like a tonne of bricks.

Thank you for choosing me to be your mum.

A full day with the Kast Team, working through a good chunk of the Healthxchange Portfolio 🙌

Potenza: radiofrequency and microneedling in one. Needles take the energy into the dermis to drive collagen and tissue remodelling. With 14 different tips, the option of Monopolar/Bipolar and 1MHz/2MHz, it’s genuinely bespoke across patient needs, and the cushion pumping tip improves product penetration by 67%. One device, many patients, no one-size-fits-all.

MediLUX: offering 5 wavelengths - today we used red and near-infrared wavelengths to support post-procedure healing. You can always offer your patients priming and post procedural solutions.

We also put Obagi Medical NuGen, Medik8 Exo PDRN Prismatic Plus Pro Concentrate and Epicutis Lipid Recovery serum and mask through a wide range of cases and indications.

Great questions, amazing team, and a lot of coffee. ☕
