Rio 🇧🇷came to Fort Lauderdale, and @parkerplayhouse felt it. First time in a theatre, the energy was immersive 🔀

🦎September 26,2026 . Miamibloco’s debut production: “From the Streets to the Stage” brought the backyards, outskirts and upscale clubs of Rio together for an unforgettable cultural journey.

This was our first PRE- season show ever!

One stage. One family. One mission: SAMBA CULTURE

@triodejaneirosamba
@sambadaantigaoficial
@bateriasaideira
@cassiocoutinho
🦎

Surdos rolling. Repiques flying. Passistas embodying the whole bateria in their moves.

We were blessed with an incredible production team from the venue & our merch stand all stars at the Bloco boutique (Lanny, Catia, Erika)

We are honored to welcome the new Consul General and his wife to this social-cultural project that heralds the beauty and power of Brazilian history culture & language, with a unique Miami accent.

Maria, Daniel & crew from the Parker made this entire experience effortless. Our @bateriasaideira shined bright and danced to our mascot “Tia Folia” who commanded the room. 🦎

The party was real, no one in their seats, flags waiving in the air, and Samba from the stage to the Lobby take over with @sambadaantigaoficial .🦎

We are proud to bring authentic samba culture to South Florida, and proud to see our students and this project on a stage this beautiful.

🥁 Before you hear the drum, hear the PLACE.📍

New Orleans. Cuba. Brasil. Haiti. The Bahamas. Venezuela. The Caribbean…. And we are SO LUCKY TO HAVE MANY IN MIAMI! … you gotta join to make them come alive though 😃

Different streets. Different histories. Different rhythms.

But one irresistible idea keeps showing up:

PEOPLE. MOVING. TOGETHER. FOR JOY.

Second Line. Conga. Bloco. Bateria. Llamadas. Tassa. Candombe. Junkanoo. Rara. Maracatu. San Juan. Carnival Mas. Tassa.

12 living drum parading traditions.
12 ways culture takes to the street to make it ours

And this list? Barely scratches the surface.

Swipe through.

Because once you know what you’re hearing,
you start hearing who, where, and why. 🌎🥁

Save this one. Your ears will thank you later.

Tradition is as alive as we value and help sustain it. ✊🏾✨

Miamibloco is built on joy, rhythm, community, and true celebration. But keeping that culture alive takes a lot more than just 🧡.

⭐️It takes all kinds of people choosing to participate, show up for it & advocate for it.

We organized and commited to grow this samba social project in/for/with Miami because we radically believe that creative expression through the practice of folk traditions makes life meaningful in a way that the system constantly wants us to forget.

Because community matters. •Because we deserve spaces where we can be more than workers moving through the grind•

As a nonprofit, Miamibloco belongs to the people and city it serves. That means our future is something we have to build together. 🧱🥁

💜💸Give Miami Day is coming up this November. Start putting aside a few dollars a week if you can.

A small gift is still a really impactful gift. When a lot of people give a little, it adds up to what actually powers the next year of this organization.

Volunteer. Share our posts. Tell a friend. Donate when you see the ask.

Please don’t scroll past it.

⛽️ Your direct support helps keep this organization moving, growing, creating, and celebrating joy as a birthright, providing music education, and massive community connection.

🚨 COMMUNITY PSA🚨 VOTE (educated) 🗳️

Community organizing is a mutual reciprocal relationship between NPO organizations and the people of a city.

We urge our community to:
- SHOW UP to vote on all upcoming elections

- Become EDUCATED about the effects that each bill will have in Miami as we know it today

- RECOGNIZE your own PRIDE & POWER to help shape our collective future

- Be ACTIVE in local organizations

- consider how your small reoccurring financial CONTRIBUTIONS actually FUEL the culture of your city
- pay it forward so our own town has a chance to be DEFINED BY LOCALS

- understand that Your VOTE and your money determine what the organizations that keep us healthy, connected & ultimately HUMAN shapes the ability of NPO’s to exist, stay a float, or become sustainable to keep doing the work we do and keep our promise to Miami.

- look up the property tax referendum & what it will do if it passes
- look up SB1134 and realize how it is up to each one of us to keep us who we are as Miami. by @someofsuom
