Let's look at what to consider when adjusting our mindset as creatives. I firmly belief that the way we think gets echoed in one way or another.

Let's specify:
1. Unshattered self-belief. This can be hard for many creatives. Art makes us vulnerable and explorative. Uncertainty lies in its very nature. However, working on your self-worth and compencies is crucial. We cannot wait to be chosen by external entities. We need to choose ourselves first!
2. Criticism will hurt. However, I recommend not shutting down umpulsively but instead accepting to look at it. Evaluate the sources it comes from and whether their angle is relevant to you. If it is, think about how you can make use of the criticism in your journey as you move forward. Progress is slow and criticism feels like we gwt thrown back. That's why it is always a bummer. Try to look at it as another step forward instead. A re-direction so you do not get on the wrong path.
3. Also look at a healthy way to deal with praise. Check the sources and viewpoints again. Don't get too swept away. Focus on being grateful that your work resonates instead of focussing on feeding your ego. Praise can quickly become addictive.
4. Realistic goalsetting is very underrated. Lots of creatives are impatient creatures. Babysteps however go a long way. When we learn to not obsess over results but instead enjoy the process with all learnings as well, we will be more likely to be satisfied whilst moving forward.
5. Last not least: A work routine that works for YOU is crucial when tackling the goals. Find out how you function, what sparks creativity, how important rest is to your well being what things promote or inhibit your creative sweetspot. There is no rush and no right or wrong. Creativity can take time or come in like lightning. Honor your unique ways!

Which three ingredients went into your best songs? Reflect on what it is that made those songs? Can you replicate these things? Can you develop a style that's unique?

All kind of songs are needed in sync and yet there's way more sad, dark and moody songs landing in a music supervisor's inbox than positive, uplifting ones. Especially in ads, these uplifting songs are much needed! Give it a go!

Even our breath follows a rhythmic pattern. Every melody has an inbuilt groove and starting out on a basic rhythmic framework can really support a strong storytelling aproach. Try coming up with a cool groove and placing a melody into it. See if it conveys an emotion you want to keep exploring. Let's shake things up!
