New works by John Aslanidis are now available online at Gallery 144 ✨ Sonic Terrain no. 1 and no. 2 are part of a body of work Aslanidis has developed since the early 1990s. Shaped by his background in jazz and music theory, the series brings together sound and vision through mathematical intervals, concentric structures and carefully sequenced colour. His work is held in the collections of QAGOMA, Heide Museum of Modern Art, Artbank and Arts Centre Melbourne, and he was included in Melbourne Now at the National Gallery of Victoria. He has exhibited internationally in New York, Berlin and Bangkok, with major commissions including Hamer Hall in Melbourne and Longchamp’s Omotesando boutique in Tokyo. -- Sonic Terrain no. 1, 2026 Acrylic on canvas, 92 x 123 cm Sonic Terrain no. 2, 2026 Acrylic on canvas, 92 x 123 cm 🔗 View via the link in bio @gallery144__ taken in Gallery 144 by @sonictiger

I am very honoured and excited to be in this exhibition curated by Leon Zhan at NYC Culture Club's first show in their incredible new space in Port Authority Terminal! (yes the bus terminal) Opening reception is this Friday June 12th (6-8pm) would love to see there. The group show is titled "Membrane". Membrane is a container of life and potential. It is a permeable zone of exchange where what is and what can be is most alive. This show brings together twelve artists whose work inhabits the charged space between states: between stillness and motion, object and subject, arrival and departure, image and matter, threat and beauty, presence and disappearance. They occupy the threshold itself - the held moment within transformation, where meaning is most unstable and most dense. They do not resolve. They contain. Membrane is staged in a fitting space that has always existed as a passage in-between.
