Always a 10 in our eyes, meet our next chief up for his spotlight, Kevin!! Born and raised in the Bay Area 🌲, a 49ers fan through and through 🏈, and can be found munching on his hummus/guac/hard boiled egg 🥑🥚concoction most mornings.

🎭 The Phantom of the OR: A Stanesthesia Production 👻🎃💀

A haunting tale of mysterious figures lurking behind the drapes, spooky call shifts, and the occasional unexplained hypotension 👀

Starring the residents of Stanford Anesthesia after our education day! 📚✏️ Once a month, each class has a dedicated education day, completely free of clinical responsibility. These days can include board-specific preparation lectures, personal health education (ft. this months’s CA1 nutrition lecture on fueling your body 🥬💪🍎), and simulation sessions to make unstable intraop events a little less spooky. These days are also great opportunities for our residents to see one another and hit up happy hour on a guaranteed free evening! 🍔🍺🍟

We are so excited to introduce our next spotlight; she’s the standing ASA Resident Component President, a die-hard Bills fan, former ballerina, and one of our four chief residents, Natalie Koons! 🦞🪩✨ by @stanfordanesthesia

The cutest (and most competitive) Anesthesia Family Trivia Day!! 👯‍♀️

Each fall, our interns are assigned into their residency families and are paired with a CA1 as their big sib. For the first big sib/little sib and anesthesia family meet up of the year, the Anesthesia Department hosted a trivia bbq at Dutch Goose, a local favorite hang out spot! Our amazing program director, Dr. Chen, served as trivia host as the four families flexed their knowledge of anesthesia history, sports, pop culture, and anesthesia trial outcomes! by @stanfordanesthesia

New kind of spotlight today! We are so excited to introduce Jack, our one of our VA Chiefs for this year!

What is a VA chief you may ask? Such a good question - during our CA2 year we have the opportunity to apply for a rotation for CA3 where we serve as Anesthesia VA chief for 6-8 weeks🫡. During our chiefery, we are responsibile for crafting the daily VA OR schedule ✅, assigning attending/resident pairings 👯‍♀️, triaging add ons ➕, responding to day-time out-of-OR airway emergencies 🚨, and assisting our VA rotating residents as problems/interesting cases come up in the ORs 🤔! It’s a wonderful and highly coveted rotation where we get to practice our leadership and management skills!

As we get into interview season, just remember - you’ve got to BELIEVE ⚽️⚽️⚽️

In that same vein (anesthesia pun) we are so excited to continue our Spotlight introductions! 💡🔦Next up we have one of our CA1s, Audrey ft. some very strong opinions about blue cheese 🧀 and what she would be doing if she wasn’t a physician 🍸🏐

Because Glinda the Glidescope should see the world too 🥺💫🫰

While on call during our VA rotation, one of our responsibilities is to hold the emergency airway pager which helps increase our exposure to airway emergencies outside of the OR🚨

When we’re not actively being called to a stat airway, we have plenty of time to hang out on the VA campus including the coffee shop ☕️, the rose garden 🌹, and the onsite gym 🏋️‍♀️! Because it’s a pretty large campus and we could be paged at anytime, often times we’ll bring the glidescope along for the ride!

We are so excited to announce our Pain Medicine Fellowship matches! Congratulations Dr. Kianian and Dr. Mohanty, we’re so lucky to get to see you both around The Farm for another year! ♥️🌲 by @stanfordanesthesia

in our cotopaxi era apparently 🦙💫

sometimes pockets just aren’t enough! some of our residents love using belt bags to carry around their medications 💉, their Stanford Emergency Manual 🚨 which has flowcharts for common emergency situations, and tbh sometimes a little snack for those quick case turnovers 🍫
