Cassandra (Ruffled) 🎀 Glazed stoneware, unique 19 x 23 x 20cm , 2026 Cassandra (Ruffled) is a new take on the mythological character from ancient times, associated with the fall of Troy. A priestess of Apollo and a seer. "Ruffled" connects both the decorations on the ceramic sculpture, the sequence of ruffles on the sides, whilst also referring metaphorically to the ruffled and dishevelled state of a person, someone who is in a delirious state, like Cassandra. Cursed so that no one believed her prophecies, she was branded as delusional and crazy, even when she spoke of the fall of Troy. She was tragically raped inside her own temple by Ajax and later taken back to Greece as concubine and war trophy of Agamemnon. Come and see this work in person during the Perennial exhibition alongside works of many other amazing artists ! Perennial is about more than the work on the walls. It brings together artists from Wirksworth with those working further afield, creating opportunities to meet, exchange ideas and build relationships that continue beyond the exhibition. By connecting artists, audiences and the gallery, it helps create the conditions for future collaborations and new opportunities to emerge. The Opening Party on Friday 28 August (and the Wrap Party & Perennial Awards on Sunday 20 September) are instrumental to that ambition. They're not simply celebrations of the exhibition, but opportunities for artists, visitors and supporters to spend time together, start conversations and get to know one another. With this in mind we are fortunate that Haarlem Artspace Gallery is located above The Feather Star Ale House—literally the world's greatest pub. We look forward to welcoming you to this year's Perennial exhibition and celebrating the artists at the heart of Haarlem Artspace. Perennial Opening Party - Friday 28 August from 6pm. Knuckle Fairy 🧚‍♀️ 🤛🏻 2026 Part of a larger installation ceramic piece that was made earlier this year during my Clay City artists residency in Dublin 🏺 & exhibited as part of Violet January 💜💜 The best part was glazing this with my own glaze recipe developed during the residency. Firing these smaller pieces proved a bit more challenging than expected ! @throwingshapes___ Made possible with funding through @henrymoorefdn_grants Artists Award 2025 #glaze #sculpture #ceramics #dublin #violetjanuary by @stellabarak

Thanks to everyone who came by to Pottery Market yesterday! ☺️🏺 A huge thank you also if you bought my work, it not only means a lot but every purchase goes back into the studio and into future projects. See something that you like but didn’t make it yesterday? Some works still available there is time. Just drop me a DM and let me know what you like. 🏺🏺🫶🏻🫶🏻 #ceramics #glaze #sculpture #contemporaryceramics by @stellabarak
The glaze firing went well and these are now looking good. This is a before picture whilst I was glazing them. I’m particularly happy with the handles - handles are a delicate part of any ceramic. Any small cracks can ruin the piece especially when they are on display like in this vessel here. Still undecided about naming these: with all the Odyssey hype I was thinking maybe there is a Penelope , Athena here somewhere … To be continued 🏺 #ceramics #contemporaryceramics #glaze #vessel by @stellabarak
Configurations with new works 🏺 They are now in the glaze kiln and fingers crossed for them ! In the meantime, I am thinking about names and support structures and how precarious ceramics are #contemporaryart #ceramics #pottery #glaze #bisque by @stellabarak
