Meet Shatikwa!

𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹: Communications

𝗙𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱: My favorite memories are definitely from my time as an RA at Meridian Hill Hall—shout out to Frank. I loved dorm life, including the hustle and bustle of moving folks in, meeting their families. There was also something special about the promise of August—new goals, dreams and adventures. Oh wait, and let’s not forget the dorm programs and parties…remember those “Love Auctions”? Crazy.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂? It means always being part of a team. And, that’s not just for our alum but for the HBCU alum circle at large. by @stiabrown

You ever really want to do something and it happens—but not the way you expect? Been there. Doing that. I’ve wanted to have a talk show since I was 14 year old and, frankly, was devastated when that dream was delayed. But life does this thing called “moving on”, even when you bury your head in the sand. Still, if I say @dearyoungqueen network + @isthather came right on time I’d be selling you the fantasy. The truth is it came at a time when I wanted something but I was scared, uncertain and had dealt with a lot of disappointment. Doing TV and writing and interviewing celebs was easy to me. Offering life coaching and mental health services; I got that—I’ve been a “helper” all my life. This podcast world? Totally not something I expected to navigate…but it gave me a platform to do what I love most: talk and help others. And, luckily, I found a business partner who is truly inspiring! Today, I’m growing ya’ll. And I’m so, so, so excited to announce “Ready. Set. Grow! w/ S. Tia Brown”, a podcast focused on growing in all ways—mental health, relationships, personal finance and more. I call it the ultimate group therapy because we’re going to have tough/honest/fun convos about all the things that can help us grow. If you’re with it, and ready to be a Grower and show’er😜, join us!
