Wow! I can’t believe I’ve gotten 10k followers (!!) and 10K people like at least one aspect of my art! I figure it might be a good time for a new intro post :)

Hi, my name is October, and I use ze/hir, he/him, and it/its pronouns. I’m also a system of sorts and you might also meet Willow (they/them)! The others don’t come out too often. I’m Bay Area born and raised, I love to travel, I’m a forever GM (though I do sometimes get to play!), and I’m an artist! I tattoo at @dollhouse.tattoo and @blackneedletattooshop, as well as at a home studio in Pinole/El Sobrante. I make stickers, patches, bone sculptures and zines. I also have dabbled in fiber arts, resin, clothing, jewelry making, painting, sculpting, and so much more, which makes sense - I’m the stereotypical AuDHD artist.

I’m neurodivergent in many many ways, disabled/queercrip (a wheelchair user with multiple disabilities including Long Covid and ME/CFS), Jewish, white, and trans/nonbinary. One of my all time top special interests is Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. I know basically everything about the movie and books, and love love love it. Some of my other interests include: linguistics and languages, colors and color theory, manual wheelchairs, TTRPGs, overall Ghibli, Over the Garden Wall, Star Trek, and Halloween!

I’m goth and also love colors, I’m punk but don’t always look like it, and I’m a fake fan of all my favorite bands. I hate gatekeeping and love information/resource sharing and mutual aid!

I offer trades for tattoos, and am always open to questions. I love drawing dead things, abstract emotions, and illustrative fantasy weapons. I don’t have a sun sign or any other sign, and I don’t have a birthday - I’m just a little creature that appeared on this earth. I love camping and road trips, and my partner @pupmaxi . I also love a plain latte or vanilla latte because I’m boring. Lately I’ve been doing a lot of crochet and making artist trading cards on @atcdex. I also do fun makeup sometimes! You can find my sporadic posting @thecolor_october

And…. That’s me in a nutshell! I hope you like my art, book me for your next tattoo, and enjoy my page <3 by @stonerzines

Bartering!!!

Lets bring back bartering and trading! This is one of the things I do to make my services more affordable, get the care and items I need, and veer away from capitalism and the capitalistic mindset. I can’t always accept trades, but I usually can make it work or can at least offer a partial trade :)

This is not an exhaustive list but here are some things I would LOVE to accept as an alternate to cash money!
- car maintenance + assessment (I have a problem with my fuel tank I think)
- meal prep work (if you can follow a recipe, that’s all I need!)
- housekeeping/cleaning (I need a variety of services, mostly kitchen/bathroom related)
- houseplants (ask me what types! I have a list :3)
- tattoos
- grocery giftcards (safeway, trader joes (yes I know we’re boycotting. They’re the only grocery store in the area with items safe for my dog))
- shoe repairs (I have a few pairs of demonias that need some help)
- clothing mending + repair
- massages
- gardening work (would really love help building planter boxes or a greenhouse)
- household repairs (particularly plumbing, electricity, and insulation)
- clay work/ceramics (I’m looking for a specific custom project)
- custom polyhedral dice sets
- a double boiler
- a cast iron enameled pan + Dutch oven
- help with digital archiving files + photos
- dog grooming, training, + walking
- photoshoots (work photos, family photos, general, and boudoir)

If you’re interested in trading, but what you can offer isn’t listed here, reach out! I’m always happy to discuss <3

August’s penpal club theme was COLOR and I loved working on all the goodies for it!! This sticker was a color theory class project that I really really liked. @stickerninja did an amazing job with the vibrant colors and printed it on a durable weatherproof matte vinyl so it’s ready for water bottles, your car, or your coffee table (if ur kewl 😎)

Find this sticker and many more on my site! L¡nk in the usual place 😘

Super stoked to be including in @h0neymush new zine “melting point” which (iirc) is close to publishing! I’ve gotten to see the draft of the zine and the submissions are all so wonderful! My collage got paired with a poem on the same page, and there’s other pairings of artists + poets throughout the zine. I absolutely love collaborative zines and I’m so so happy I get to participate in this one!

It’s been fun getting back into collage and messing around with some multi-media techniques. For this collage, I used watercolor paper I treated with a turmeric and alcohol solution then left in the sun with a sheet of lace on top to sun print. I also used crayola markers and a Spirograph tool for the background, then watercolored over everything. I sourced paper from hardware store paint chips, magazines and local papers, colored craft paper, and toilet paper wrappings, as well as an old map!

Turns out Elmer’s school glue lifts the dark color from the sunprint and lightens it to yellow again! 🧡💛🧡

Swipe for the process 👀

Omg! New zine release!!! I collaborated on this zine with my wonderful fiancée @pupmaxi and published it for my penpal subscribers back in August! Maxi and I took regular letter paper, folded it in half, and then each doodled, collaged, painted, etc on one half in a monochrome palette for each color. So each full page spread you see is half me and half maxi! After we created our art, I scanned it with a really nice photo scanner I inherited, and then added the words and some more art digitally on my tablet. I’m really proud of how this art zine came out and I hope you like it too 🩷❤️🤎🧡💛💚🩵💙💜

This zine will be listed on my site within the next couple days! (I’m still recovering from my road trip disaster lol)

Hiya zine folks!! I have been “working on” issue 18 of Transvestia for over a year now and I just can’t keep up with my disabilities and capacity at the moment. I love this project so much and I know many of you do too! That’s why I’d like to open up editing the zine to anyone else who wants to help out :) you will be able to help in any way and capacity that you can, there’s no minimum commitment level. There will be two open sessions where I’ll give some background on the zine, the things I think are most important about it, and what actually goes into publishing an issue. Then, I’ll answer any questions you have about getting involved and we’ll get a team together!

The registration form is required - I will email you the link to the google meet video call after I get your registration! This is to hopefully weed out any transphobes from randomly joining.

Hope to see you there!

Dates:
10/15/26 at 3pm PST
10/24/26 at 12pm PST

I’ve learned so much from just a month of making and trading ATCs on @atcdex - mostly how to loosen up and be okay with imperfect marks and “mistakes”. Originally, starting at 4 or 5 years old, I painted with acrylic and gouache as my main mediums. In 2019, when I started Stoner Zines, I got myself an iPad. It’s been a life saver and made art so much more accessible for me, and I’ve improved my drawing skills immensely in the past 7 years, but drawing and painting digitally started making me a perfectionist. I would redraw the same line 20 times to get the curve *just* right. I needed a break! I needed to remind myself that I know how to be creative on my own, I know how to paint, I know how to experiment and have fun, I know how to doodle (or at least I know I can learn!). Instagram tutorials have helped so much with both watercolor and acrylic marker, and now that I’m a bit more knowledgable of analog watercolor, I’m also having an easier time doing digital watercolor!

Making ATCs has helped with my constant feeling of impostor syndrome around being an “artist”, and I encourage anyone else, whether you sell your art or consider yourself an artist or not, to make and trade ATCs! Because even if you hate what you made, I’ve learned that someone else will probably love it, and then you get to toss art you don’t like and receive art you love in exchange! It’s a perfect system tbh

Thank you @prairiefruitarts for giving me the push to dig out my strathmore cards and start creating <3

What do you like about making ATCs or just trading art in general?

Yay!!! Get ready for my “tattoober” prompts for tattoo artists this month! There are no numbers because the prompts are flexible - pick the one you are most drawn to each day, rather than following a strict schedule! The goal is to draw and get some ink on paper each day or each week, regardless of whether the drawing is polished and edited and perfect or not.

Tag me if you draw something from my prompt list! Feel free to share with friends and doodle together <3 by @stonerzines

I’m in my first ever gallery exhibit!!!!!! I’m beyond excited to be a part of this group show at an absolutely AMAZING gallery in the heart of SF. The gallery is queer and Latine owned (and the owner is wonderful and so gracious and sweet), and located in the Tenderloin neighborhood of SF. I unfortunately can’t attend the opening night of this themeless show (I’ll be getting home from Albuquerque very late at night lol), so you HAVE to go in my place. Swipe for a sneak peek of the large print I submitted to the show and my artist tag!!

One of the coolest features of this show is that all of the exhibiting artists make their own artist tags to accompany their artwork. These tags can look like ANYTHING and I got to take a look at some of the tags from artwork already dropped off at the gallery - they’re SO CUTE!!!! It’s almost worth going to the show just for the tags themselves lol. Swipe to the end of this post to see the one I made (I spent 4 hours on it!)
