Guns are the #1 killer of kids, teens, and college-aged people in the United States, and our lawmakers fail us every day that they refuse to act. On November 3, we’ll put gun extremists out of a job and replace them with leaders who will keep us safe from gun violence.

WE DESERVE TO COME HOME FROM SCHOOL ALIVE.

Too many students across the country have been stolen by preventable school shootings. When guns are the #1 killer of American kids and teens, keeping us safe from gun violence should be top priority for every leader elected to represent us. Instead, Congress fails us every day that they refuse to take action. Demand change with us: Text STUDENTS to 644-33. by @studentsdemand

We are sick of gun violence stealing our classmates’ futures, this time at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, where three children were shot and killed in a mass shooting. We won’t stop fighting to #EndGunViolence until all of us can learn, play, and grow up without the fear of being shot. Join us: Text STUDENTS to 644-33. by @studentsdemand

We’ve become the “mass shooting generation” against our will. We should be safe in our schools, parks, movie theaters, grocery stores — EVERYWHERE! But for too long, our lawmakers have cowered to the gun industry, putting their profit over our lives.

Enough is enough. Join the largest movement of young people working to #EndGunViolence: Text STUDENTS to 644-33. by @studentsdemand

The three children and one teacher killed in the horrific shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School deserved to come home alive. Honor them by reading and sharing their stories. Give the shooter #NoNotoriety.

Rhoam Summer was a bright student and adored by his loved ones. A family friend said “there are no words that can ease the pain” of this “heartbreaking loss.” Rhoam was five years old, and he had just started kindergarten at Silver Rail last month.

Megan Lambert was a beloved daughter, sister, friend, and teacher at Silver Rail Elementary School. Loved ones say she was “compassionate and had a huge heart. She always fought for the underdog and those with special needs.” Megan was 25 years old, and this was her first teaching job.

The other two children killed were an 8-year-old boy and an 11-year-old boy. Both their families are asking for privacy during this difficult time.

We refuse to accept constant grief and fear as our normal. We should not have to mourn children stolen by preventable school shootings. In honor of the victims, the two wounded survivors, and the entire community impacted by this terrifying shooting, we continue our work to #EndGunViolence. by @studentsdemand

Lawmakers who drag their feet on gun safety have made it clear that they don’t represent us. On November 3, we’ll put them out of a job, replacing them with people who will ACTUALLY take action to keep us safe.

Gun Sense Candidates have proven that they’ll support stronger gun laws and will lead with gun safety top of mind. For our safety and our future, we must elect them.

Nineteen-year-old Ramontreal Hodge deserved a future. His loved ones deserved the chance to watch him grow up and realize his dreams. His friends and peers deserve to feel safe in their communities.

But Ramontreal is now among the countless young people whose lives have been taken by gun violence because craven politicians refuse to take action to protect us. by @studentsdemand

“Florida lawmakers claimed this program was necessary, but a month into the school year, not a single institution has chosen to adopt it. That non-participation isn’t an accident. It’s a clear sign that campus leaders recognize bringing more guns into lecture halls and libraries doesn’t make us safer. We applaud our university administrators for listening to their students and keeping this dangerous program right where it belongs: off our campuses.” - Emily Dorman, @studentsdemandfsu volunteer by @studentsdemand

Seven years ago today, police responding to a non-emergency call about an open front door shot and killed Atatiana Jefferson in Fort Worth, Texas. Atatiana was playing video games with her beloved 8-year-old nephew, Zion, who witnessed the shooting. Their front door was open because they cooked hamburgers and were letting the smoke out of the house.

Atatiana should be alive today, pursuing her dreams of going to medical school and watching Zion grow up. Instead, her bright future was stolen from her by police violence, and her loved ones are forced to mourn her. Zion, who is one of the millions of American children who have witnessed gun violence, lives with the trauma of the shooting to this day.

Gun violence is gun violence — no matter who pulls the trigger. In honor of Atatiana, we fight to end gun violence in all its forms. by @studentsdemand

Last night, two devastating mass shootings were carried out in homes in Erie, Pennsylvania, and Douglas, Georgia. In Erie, a man shot and killed eight people, including two children, before killing himself. In Douglas, five people were found shot dead in what is believed to be another homicide-suicide.

While details are still unfolding, both of these shootings follow an all-too-common pattern: On average, there is at least one domestic violence homicide-suicide each day in the United States.

Our hearts are with the victims, their loved ones, and the entire Erie and Douglas communities. We should not have to live or die like this. by @studentsdemand

BREAKING: The federal agency tasked with enforcing our gun laws is now deciding not to. The National Firearms Act was enacted nearly a century ago to prevent criminals from getting their hands on weapons like short-barreled rifles and shotguns, and silencers.

ATF Director Cekada’s decision to be a puppet for the gun industry will only put the safety of our communities at risk. We’ll demand accountability when we take back the House in November. by @studentsdemand
