Meanwhile, our enemies don’t care about any of this. They never have. They didn’t ask Rom Braslavski what kind of Jew he was. They didn’t ask Daniel Pearl. They didn’t ask the hostages. They didn’t ask Sarah Milgrim or Yaron Lischinsky before they murdered them outside a Jewish museum. They saw one thing: Jewish identity. Or even proximity to it. And the really tragic part? Some of this division comes from inside our own house. People claiming to speak as Jews while tearing other Jews down, stoking infighting, and doing the work of our enemies for them. For 2,000 years, the diaspora was a survival mechanism. It was a holding pattern designed strictly to preserve the physical and spiritual coordinates of the Jewish people until they could return to the source. But today, it has become the Exilic Trap. When Jews in the West desperately try to appease the rootless renter class by distancing themselves from Israel, they do not gain respect. They become political mascots. They feed the exact mobs calling for their destruction just to prove they are a safe, domesticated minority. You cannot run a universalist operating system on indigenous hardware. The prayers, the holidays, and the historical memory are all permanently locked to the soil of the Levant. Trying to rewrite that reality creates a fatal Catch 22.
