Writers of Delhi! Structured as a prompt-driven session, this co-writing jam facilitated by Purée Mag and hosted at Uncanny Stations (@uncannystations), will foreground and draw from jazz and its multi-instrumental lexicon as a way to think about spontaneity, rhythm and present tense in writing. The session will take place through a set of short readings, core findings from improv, exercises geared towards strengthening your writing muscle, and resources to think about your practice. Delighted to announce the public presentation by Kamayani Sharma, recipient of Art Writers’ Award 2025. The AWA recipient is awarded a research residency in Switzerland for a period of upto 60 days. Through close mentorship, the writer is exposed to discourses that could further their research and build a community around their themes. Such an endeavor is positioned within a local as much as a global framework in more ways than one, for not only is this a project of some urgency regionally, but reminds us of the fact that the crisis is a global one. Art writing has for some time endured challenges which vary in nature across the world. There is a dearth of critical and experimental work around art and art history- a problem compounded by the paucity of funds and the fact that while platforms for writing may actually be on the rise, their general value and impact in terms of readership has declined. Art Writers’ Award, thus, encapsulates the significant programs of TAKE on Art in this direction with the support of Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia. The public will be followed by a conversation between Kamayani Sharma and Suvani Suri. ~ swirling earworms~ by @suvanisuri is a contribution to the Anthology for Listening Vol. II — // notes from a film nowanights, said the ear, the daylights keep me awake A few seconds into the opening scene of Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s Memoria, the protagonist is jolted awake with a sound that cuts through the frame. As the plot unravels, in her committed (bordering on obsessive) attempt to recreate it in a studio with a sound engineer, she describes the sound that she heard as “a big ball of concrete that falls into a metal well which is surrounded by seawater.”. “Maybe, it is impossible”, she says (after describing it in this way […] Until you look down, you won’t fall. A gap in perception, the combination tones loop up and down, the glissando filling the host just as fast as un-filling it.
