Vor 10 Jahren, im Juni 2012, habe ich meinen ersten Triathlon (IM 70.3 Rappi) gefinished. Seither gab es Höhen und Tiefen, welche beide zum Sport dazugehören. Doch der Traum, mich eines Tages für die Ironman WM in Hawaii zu qualifizieren und einer der härtesten Eintages-Ausdauerwettkämpfe ins Ziel zu bringen, blieb immer bestehen. Vor einer Woche durfte ich mir diesen Traum erfüllen. Noch immer fällt es mir schwer das Ganze zu realisieren. Aber was ich weiss, ohne die Unterstützung vieler toller Menschen hätte ich das nie geschafft! Vielen Dank an all meine Freunde, meine Familie, alle die mich auf diesem Weg begleitet haben und natürlich meiner Frau!❤️🌺 Und ganz speziell möchte ich meinen Opa grüssen, der vor ein paar Wochen von uns gegangen ist. Er war den ganzen Tag an meiner Seite❤️
Nun ist das Kapitel „Ironman Hawaii“ abgeschlossen und ich freu mich auf neue Herausforderungen in der nächsten Saison und die Zusammenarbeit mit @orthopodo.ch und @sportshopkarrer

Already more than 2 weeks ago…
One of the highlights in my race calender since three years!
@triathlonbasel 🩷🩵
My hometown race with the coolest bike course I know 🚴‍♂️
For the first time, I wasn’t able to race the olympic distance in the morning and the sprint in the afternoon…
The torn muscle in my back was getting better, but still not 💯
But I‘m over the moon, that I was able to race and share the podium with the zurich duo😎😉
Another medal in Basel 🙌

What a 🎢 @challengetaiwan 🇹🇼
First I need to agree with @misobuco1 This is one of the best triathlons on 🌏 (he was telling us that since we met…)
We had a great pre race week in Taitung!😍🏯🍜
- Riding on stunning roads 🌴
- Saw amazing temples and were able to give a wish to the gods⛩️🧧
- Met the one and only VT (@amyvantassel ) again🫶
- Had a nice time with my parents☺️❤️
On race day we woke up at 4.10 and ate some delicious toast with peanut butter and jelly😋😂
My race started with an average swim. I didn‘t feel great in the water and I missed my goal split/group by a bit. But that was ok. On the bike it began to rain but I had good legs. I was moving through the field until I had the current third place in front of me. But at this moment, I started to feel the heat a bit. I came with the 4th fastest bike split in 4th position in T2. My goal was to manage the heat well and finally run a good half-marathon in hot/humid conditions. Unfortunately I blew up again because of the heat at the half-way mark on the run and had to walk-run my way to the finish line🥵 (I think I need to do more indoor trainer rides in my wetsuit😭😂)
But I learned a lot again from this race and I‘m looking forward to keep improving!
Thank you @challengefamily for hosting us, @belindagranger for all your hard work and @jortvlam for always standing at the finish line! What an amazing CEO🔥
And thank you @misobuco1 for welcoming every single athlete like he won the race!🎤
Congrats to all finishers but especially my lovely wife! She had by far not an optimal preparation and was even not sure if she can finish the race. But she did great!💪❤️🌺
A fifth place, some price money for the household (yess 😜😂) and again the @challengesamorin quali for next year🎊🕺💃
On Sunday we then did our fun family relay triathlon with 1.5km swim for ❤️, my dad biking 42km and I had the honor to run again 10k in the heat and managed to hit some heat score all time bests with 39.8 degrees body temp and 14min in @corebodytemp zone 4✌️😂

Two half marathons in 2 weeks… 🏃‍♂️🔥
After a hilly trail race, it was now time to put on the fast shoes for a flat (but windy 🤷‍♂️💨🙈) one!

On Saturday, I did a 5-hour long ride 🚴‍♂️ in 🇫🇷, and then we drove 2.5 hours to the east of Switzerland for the famous @rhylauf on Sunday 🇨🇭✨

I’m happy with a 75-minute half. I mean, I would’ve loved to finally go under 75 minutes, but after many good and consistent weeks of training, that’s okay 👍💪

Now it’s time to leave the cold Switzerland and train under the Spanis sun ☀️😎🇪🇸 taken in Oberriet SG by @svenaltermatt

21k, a lot of trails and more than 500m of elevation ⛰️
But at the end, just another run with my friend 😉

What an amazing experience @challenge_sby 🦒😍
Racing from a cruise ship was an extremly special experience 🛳️
Meeting many nice people and having a good time before and after the race🎈
During the swim, I felt under control and I really enjoyed that bike course until I had some breathing issues at KM60. From there on, I struggled to get enough air in and I had to drop out at KM12 on the run…
We will check where that came from and would love to return to Sir Bani Yas in 2027😍
