Before the #ConnekCares 2026 weekend kicks off we just wanted to thank you all for your support. All the re shares, all the donations, all the love online and IRL means the world to us.

Connek Ja is grass roots downnn. We have no funding or continuous sponsors. We often rely heavily on favors, generous followers and the community to help us support our queer kin and trans and queer family in Jamaica. That’s our central focus and we are still just a few queers on What’s app trying to make it work and make a change. Doing what we can. It’s hard work but our deep passion project.

We started this whole thing almost 8 years ago. We have been through sooooo much trying to bring joy and change to the narrative and fight for queer Jamaicans in diaspora and on the island. From the curated trips to quarantine zoom fundraisers for locals to the Doll Ball (which yes fingers crossed will return) to Connek Cares and our Hurricane relief work- it’s been a journey and one coming from our hearts.

Thank you to all of you who see that passion in our mission, support and tap in with us.

Much love 🫂💕 @1emmanuel & @neonchristina

One year after Hurricane Melissa, trans and queer Jamaicans are still rebuilding. This week in Kingston we are back with reasoruces, donations, spaces of shared knowledge and more:

We are honored to be working with @kyethedj and @deejayanash to bring you DJ 101: Crates to Decks October 23, Friday! A Hands-On Workshop for Beginners. Learn the fundamentals. Get behind the decks. Play your first set. - the event is sold out but we will post if there are any openings that become available for the workshop.

We are also collaborating with @transwaveja on our Care Package distribution at “Open Closet” October 24 this Saturday from 1pm to 4pm at Rainbow House! Clothes, shoes, toiletries, and food all from NYC with love. We’ve got tons of stuff from make up to labels ready to give out!

Update: unfortunately the Gathering food workshop had to be cancelled due to a scheduling issue with DeVonn but he sends his love and we’ll work to set something up for the future 🙏🏿🫂

For our family in foreign: thank you so much for all your support. Help us continue to fundraise so we can give EVEN MORE out to trans and queer Jamaicans as last year ($9000 USD). The applications closed but if we raised more we could give even more. Donate and share if you can. Every dollar is going to a trans and queer person in need ❤️🫂🇯🇲
