Across Nebraska, real-world challenges are becoming opportunities for innovation through the creativity and expertise of our college community. From exploring robotics in agriculture at UNL’s East Campus to reimagining historic buildings in Lincoln, these projects show how thoughtful design can shape healthier, more vibrant cities like Lincoln and Omaha—improving quality of life for all.

This commitment to engagement extends deeply into Nebraska’s rural communities. Interior Design and allied programs have partnered with Valentine on affordable housing initiatives and Kimball with population growth planning and exploration.

Share this video with others if you agree or share your own experience about how the college has positively impacted your life or community.

Our FACT (Fabrication And Construction Team) 30 designbuild studio’s collaboration with Livable Omaha is making tracks. Jessica Scheuerman, founder and executive director of Partners for Livable Omaha and Professor Jeffrey L Day brainstorm initial ideas for the OurStory project with student groups. Their project explores solutions for the housing crisis with a new concept for infill housing and accessory dwellings in the Omaha metro and beyond.

OurStory is an aging-ready home designed to meet the needs of Omahans seeking to build new housing on vacant residential lots or an additional home on their own property. The product will fill the gap in the local market for constructible and financeable designs that can function as standalone small homes, accessory dwelling units to existing homes, or as part of dense cluster communities.
Be sure to follow this project as it progresses!

A little late, but never a bad time to be thankful!
Every day I’m reminded how blessed I am for the family and friends that God has put in my life.
Loved getting to go up to MN and spend lots of time with the family!
And of course, gotta have a Friendsgiving!
(Buxton pic at the end, that’s what matters most 😁)

This might be a little controversial but… hear me out..

What if the reason you feel uncomfortable in front of the camera is because your photographer is trying to pose you TOO much?

I fully subscribe to the idea that the more you goof off during your session, the better! When you are given pose after pose, it’s almost feels like a copy and paste of other couple’s photos. You might not truly feel like yourselves in those photos (mostly because your sister/cousin/friend literally has that EXACT photo hanging up of them in their house already). That’s why I love taking a slightly more documentary approach and giving prompts in order to get you movin’ and groovin’. There’s always such a noticeable difference in photos when you’re able to let your personalities show! Don’t get me wrong, there’s definitely a time and a place for posing and we all love a good editorial moment, but make sure you still have the room to be yourselves!

Also, let’s pretend this hasn’t been in my drafts since May 😅
