Very happy to share that Shivani Kokkonda (@shiv_anikokkonda) and I will be exhibiting Dancing Lady, after Jamini Roy at Critical Costume 2026, taking place at London College of Fashion from 9–11 September.

Developed in response to Jamini Roy’s Dancing Lady, the project explores the relationship between material, body and memory, translating costume and embodied performance into digital space through photogrammetry and immersive media.

At its centre is a sari developed through the project’s textile practice and activated through performance, then reinterpreted through digital capture, spatial storytelling and immersive media.

Looking forward to sharing the work again, and to seeing it within a wider programme thinking critically about costume, technology, embodiment and representation.

A performance sometime in the beginning of the year for the beautiful exhibition held by @mauleti.co, @_aishanighosh.

Can you tell I’m awful at social media ahahh, posting about things that happened months ago but maybe it’s because I look back at this with kinder eyes than before.

I often chase perfection - berate myself for not achieving a certain aesthetic or finding nuances I drilled into myself during practice yet seem to have lost in the live performance.

Even in this short clip, I see many places where I could have expressed the emotions and the story more clearly, with nuances that have so beautifully and carefully been taught by sir.

But also, now reminiscing about how I experienced this moment with @preetipm_ melodic and evergreen beautiful voice, everything blurs. I’m grateful I got to experience this special piece, yashoda calling after Krishna to give back the kadagola he mischievously stole. I pictured my own mother, my appa, my ajji’s and ajjas, athe’s, my brothers. I pictured all those I have loved and how they treat me when I do such shenanigans hehe. :)

It was a moment where I truly lost myself and found myself. I found everyone and all the memories I hold and hence the most honest and natural me was present. Yes, my expressions may not have encompassed all the nuances I practiced but it was an honest expression in the moment.

4th August 2026 - Sports Day 🏅

MAULETI came together with @ldnadavu for a light hearted (mostly) sports day!!

What a fun evening full of laughter , good vibes and lots of competition!! Thank you to everyone who came to have an amazing time with us on a Tuesday evening !

It’s such a joy to bring people together from all walks of life and just have a fun evening. People just reconnecting with their inner child while outside connecting with their bodies in nature the way it’s meant to be!

While sports and art are often in separate categories the level of skill, dedication, passion and love required to do both always made me connect to both! So what better way to bring both my loves together for our second event ! A whole evening of creative sports relays, an intense match of rounders, lots of volleyball relays and many other made up games 🏐

Thank you to everyone at the @ldnadavu team for helping make my vision come to life and @ami_jay for doing this with me 🤍

Into our 2nd year of touring Roots to Rise, an outdoor work commissioned by @withoutwalls.uk for their 2025 Outdoor Arts programme. Created in collaboration with so many beautiful artists, makers and consultants I’ve been privileged to have by my side, it’s been a wild ride!

Thank you to all our supporters and partners for a successful 2025 tour. Welcoming new cast members this year we are excited to share this work with more audiences and communities across of the U.K this summer!

Roots to Rise brings together three women, each absorbed in the chaos of their own world. Blending folk and contemporary movement with Indian classical dance, we follow their journey back to the land, the soil, and the stories written in the stars.
Set to polyrhythmic musical scores and guided by embodied memory, they confront personal and collective histories, learning from one another and from those who came before. In this shared journey, they reconnect with the earth, ancestral wisdom, and to the futures emerging on the horizon, celebrating freedom, resistance and community.

I don’t usually write long Instagram captions - this usually stays in my journal lol- but this shall be a mini exception hehehe :D)

To my ROS family,

Thank you for everything.

My heart is sooooo sooooo full of gratitude, love, and joy. I honestly don’t know what I’ve done to be surrounded by so many beautiful people and so much love. I’m so so grateful to everyone I’ve met through this beautiful piece, and that our paths crossed in this beautiful beautiful way. You’ve shaped and inspired me more than you know, and for that I’ll always be thankful.

Thank you for giving me abs (from laughing sooo soo much), for making me cry with joy and love, for expanding my world and my views and for leaving me with a heart overflowing with warmth and love. Thank you for standing by me through injuries, surgeries, exams, dissertations, losses and everything in between. Really, thank you for being the beautiful people you are.

@seetapateldance @iamseetapatel from meeting you and dancing with you at 16, all the way to now (21… almost 22! ), you’ve changed my life in the most beautiful, magical, and indescribable ways. Because of you, I’ve believed in myself more, met incredible people, seen beautiful places, created more, learnt so soooo muchhhh about dance and life, the list truly goes on forever. You inspire me endlessly.

Performance is just the tip of the iceberg - 99% of the work happens before we ever step on stage. We’ve heard so many people say the same thing now and that’s testimony enough.

Dancers pour so much care into these bodies, our instruments. Each of us has our own ritual to arrive fully present - because every body is different. Different capabilities, different injuries, different ways of managing it all. We carry stress, emotional weight, baggage and all of it which needs to be shed before stepping on stage. The fear, the self-doubt, the sabotage has to dissolve in those few moments of preparation before we enter, and before each of the performances this particular ritual becomes sacred.

There’s something profound about that sacred moment - steadying the nerves, waking up every limb and joint, preparing to strike and be fully available for ourselves. It’s meditative. Essential. And when shared with the people you love, it becomes something even bigger than preparation.
