We are so excited for our October gathering on Monday the 26th at 7:30pm as this month marks 3 YEARS of Purple Teeth! 🎉 To celebrate we are doing a theme as suggested by one of our members @classicfreddie - “The wine that got you hooked on wine.” Bring a bottle that sent you down the wine rabbit hole. It can be a region, style, or varietal. It is all fair game! This one should be a blast and we can’t wait to celebrate with you. If you’d like to attend send us an RSVP to: purpleteethavl@gmail.com 💜

Monday night our small group Super Tasters met to explore granite soils from around the world! The night was led by @cdelavallad (Somm and wine baddie), who illuminated how this soil type shows up in the glass through texture. We learned these wines can have “needle-like tang or acidity” and a “high pitched sensation”. Some favorites were the two Cornas wines and getting to experience them side by side, and a Viogner from Condreiu! Our soil series will continue in October with clay and we are so excited!

A big thank you to our friends at @burialbeer for hosting our August meet-up on the bier garden patio. It was the perfect spot to explore Tempranillo and Riesling. I think what we found was that NC showed out once again! We had three beautiful Rieslings, including an awesome sparkling one from our friends @defiwines 💛! We’ll be dropping our next Super Taster invite soon and looking towards the fall gatherings had us wondering what varietals do you want to see next month?

What an absolutely stellar summer night at @bushfarmhouse for our June Purple Teeth Gathering. It’s always a beautiful time being hosted by them, and if you haven’t been we highly encourage you to get out there! Last night the group explored two varietals that thrive in South Africa, Sauvignon Blanc and Cinsault. It’s pretty amazing to explore a varietal we felt we knew so much about and another we had so much to learn about. It was another way to deepen our understanding together and did just that. It was so nice having so many newcomers this month to offer their fresh perspectives. Please peep the photo of our host, Skyler, unveiling a CINSAULT BLANC that absolutely floored us. This mutation is the only Cinsault Blanc grown in South Africa on 2 hectares! We’re super excited for our next gathering in August, as we will be taking a little summer break in July. Which varietals do y’all wanna blind next?

Monday night garden party vibes at @thehoundavl for our May Purple Teeth Gathering was divine! We explored Vermentino and Carignan and overall most of us were humbled and stretched by what we didn’t know and got to learn in real time. It’s so exciting to taste varietals side by side like this. Many of us commented it was the most Carignan we had ever drank in our life, and maybe now we have a deeper understanding of it. We’re so grateful to our friends at @thehoundavl for hosting us. We’ll probably be chasing our outdoor meetings as much as we can this summer. Keep your eyes peeled for your next wine to bag! We’ve got a fun one for June on the way!

After an ice and snow storm delayed our meet-up twice, we finally made it to our Zinfandel and Melon meet-up at the beautiful and cozy @rowancoffee West. This year we’re focusing on varietals and we had such an awesome time getting to experience these varietals side by side. We had a mind-blowing skin contact Melon from France, some lighter expressions of Zin than expected, and this really lovely Melon Cremant from Burgundy. A big shout out to the folks from @communitytap for rolling in deep to the tasting. We’re so excited for this next chapter exploring varietals! Which varietals do you want to see next?

What a way to wrap up our last meet-up of 2025. A huge thank you to Chef Sam for hosting us at @quenchavl on Monday. We explored wines from South America and Mexico and honestly, Mexico really showed out! 🍷🇲🇽 Thanks to everyone for bringing some really stellar wines. In case you weren’t there, we announced that we’ll be starting 2026 as an exploration of varietals for our monthly meetings and our Super Taster meet-ups will return with a focus on climates and soil types. We can’t wait to go a little deeper with our wine knowledge in 2026 and keep learning with y’all. As always: THANK YOU and keep your eyes peeled for your next bottle to bag! 👀

“The wine coursed in their veins and tired limbs, and they felt glad and easy of heart as they had not done since they left the land of Lórien.” Was this quote about Frodo and Sam in Ithilien or of our tasting group as we journeyed through the regions of Middle Earth last night? We were led through a comprehensive tasting of Middle Earth by our guide, Phil of @bebopbottleshop , and we couldn’t have been in better hands. It was so fun to challenge our brains in a different way and taste to try and figure out what region of Middle Earth they may be! Big ups to @___deerose for the PO-TA-TOES and Lembas bread and to @_big_randi_ ‘s Dad @godzilla1950 for the amazing map placemats! We’ve got one more tasting of 2025. We can’t wait to end the year with y’all. Keep your eyes out for the next invite and your next bottle to bag! 💜😈

Some days the weight of the American Immigrant sits like a pit in my stomach and I can’t shake the inevitable weight of despair.

When we organize, when we show up for each other, when we refuse to look away—we build something stronger than fear. This piece is about collective action, knowing your rights, and the power we hold when we stand together in defense of our immigrant colleagues, friends, and community members in the hospitality industry and beyond.

An injury to one is an injury to all.

Read on for practical tools, resources, and a reminder that your strategy matters in this fight.

Solidarity forever, y’all
