The Liquid Becomings: The European Pavilion 2024 team is organising a Futuring day with Buitenplaats Brienenoord to mark the end of the Rhine route, on the 1st of October.

Buitenplaats Brienenoord is a unique place - an island and artist-led initiative deeply rooted in Rotterdam, featuring a programme that focuses on future thinking AND future doing, always using imagination as a key driver.

The day will be packed with these events:
- 6 different workshops with future thinkers and the Rhine artists and curators from our crew (further information on our blog - link in bio);
- Dinner prepared by Vlada Predelina (@vpredelina) from the Eat House collective (@_eathouse), inspired by the idea of Liquid Becomings;
- Party with music - sounds curated by Janpier Brands and Carmina Lacruz (@carminatje), drinks and hopefully a campfire.

If you want to take part in this celebration, 10 places will be held for members of the public to join us. Please register via the form at the link in our bio by the 25th of September to be considered.

De afgelopen 2 maanden hebben 4 kunstenaars van Buitenplaats Brienenoord samen met deelnemers en bezoekers van Rotterdamse Munt kunst gemaakt op allerlei manieren. We zochten naar verbindingen tussen de tuin, kunst en het dagelijks leven, en vonden we verhalen, ontmoetingen en ontspanning.

Earlier this year, we were lucky enough to see Berlage's original 1923 sketches of Indonesia in person at @nieuweinstituut in Rotterdam. We were particularly amazed at how much more vibrantly coloured they are than the reproductions! 🖼️ Aren't they beautiful?

We were at Nieuwe Instituut to attend the dinner meeting 'Sharing Continuity: Past, Present and Future Design Legacies between Indonesia and the Netherlands', ahead of the eponymous conference, which will be held later this year at Nieuwe Instituut, co-organised with @dutchcultureamsterdam, @museumhetschip and @gudskul.

We enjoyed @_eathouse's beautifully prepared Indonesian feast and loved our personalised menu, which featured a photo from Berlage's own collection and a technical drawing by MacLaine Pont, both from Nieuwe Instituut's archives. 🗃️

INVITE: Tongue Twisting Dinners, Session 4: resistance at boiling point by Eathouse with special guests Diana Al-Halabi, Veronika Babayan and JINA collective. Sunday 23 July from 16.00-20.00.

For their last Tongue Twisting Dinner Eathouse will bring together voices from Iran, Lebanon, Armenia and Turkey. This region, also referred to as S.W.A.N.A., continues to be affected by entangled geo-politics, oil trade, religious dogma and wars on territorial integrity. Each of our guests deals with the history of the region to position their practice in the current political climate. However, many artists, researchers and historians who raise their voice to address ongoing injustices and criticise hegemonic powers, are often silenced and therefore have to create alternative methodologies and forms of resistance. Diana Al-Halabi’s research unfolds through various mediums and brings in different histories of the region. Veronika Babayan transfers women’s generational knowledge through her artistic practice that deals with antagonistic histories. Whereas JINA Collective is a feminist leftist activist group and community that emerged from the Woman, Life, Freedom Revolution in Iran.

The menu will depart from the recipe letters of Mücella Yapıcı and Çiğden Mater, political prisoners in Turkey. These two women take on women’s prison survival skills for cooking and reheating their meals. The knowledge that circulates around different prisons in Turkey forms an alliance among prisoners as well as forming resistance by holding on to an essential human pleasure: taste. Yapıcı cooks elaborate traditional Turkish recipes with an electric water kettle and the limited means available in prison, whereas Mater shares these ingenious recipes through letters to her friends.

Tickets cost €10 plus booking fee with the price of the meal included. The menu will be vegetarian. Please contact in advance if you would like a vegan option or you have any allergies or dietary requirements. Reserve your place in the @_eathouse bio.

some pictures from yesterday's wonderful evening at 'Tongue Twisting Dinners: reclamation of growth, attention to decay' hosted by Eathouse at an other world project space in Rotterdam South. 🌾🍄🪱🌽🫛🥒🥕🐝🪱🐜We watched Sol Archer's film on the Four Siblings and their corn doings, feasted on the lekkerste food, discussed about the more-than-human realms inside and outside our bodies, celebrated an organic ritual and expanded a garden. It was great to share and discuss ideas with Kate, Müge, Marija and everyone who dropped by. Thanks for the invitation again!

- Space On The Wave with Thom Driver, Duncan Robertson and Cécile Tafanelli from 14h - 18h, a group show featuring three distinct approaches to exploring the voice. Drop by today or tomorrow for a viewing.

- Tongue Twisting Dinners being hosted by Eathouse from 18h. Tonight's dinner takes a look at gardening and composting as modes of coexistence and belonging featuring Four Siblings and Kate Price & Guillem S. Arquer.
