Your dark passenger watches over you. With every calorie consumed, and every other avoided, as every calorie is a war.

Body dysmorphia doesn’t discriminate. While it’s often talked about in the context of women, men struggle too — often in silence. The male beauty standard has shifted dramatically: from the lean, rugged look of the '80s to today's hyper-muscular, shredded ideal seen across social media and fitness culture. For example, Sylvester Stallone in Rocky (1976) and Brad Pitt in Fight Club (1999) got in that shape after months/years of hard work, yet by 2020s standards are considered 'skinny'.

These unrealistic expectations can fuel anxiety, depression, and disordered eating — yet the conversation is still stigmatized for men.

It’s time we open up the dialogue and recognize that body image issues affect everyone. Your worth isn’t measured in abs or aesthetics — it’s in your health, your character, and how you show up for yourself and others.

Your dark passenger follows you. It's in every action you do or experience.

Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a pervasive issue in Canada, affecting individuals across all communities. In 2023, there were 123,319 victims of IPV aged 12 and older, equating to a rate of 354 victims per 100,000 population. Alarmingly, 78% of these victims were women and girls, highlighting the gendered nature of this violence

The impact of IPV is profound, with many victims experiencing physical injuries, psychological trauma, and, in severe cases, homicide. Between 2011 and 2021, two-thirds of gender-related homicides of women and girls were perpetrated by an intimate partner

Indigenous women and girls are disproportionately affected, facing rates of gender-related homicide more than three times higher than the national average

Despite the prevalence of IPV, many cases go unreported due to fear, stigma, or lack of trust in the justice system. It's crucial to recognize the signs of IPV and support those affected. If you or someone you know is experiencing IPV, help is available. Reach out to local shelters, hotlines, or community organizations for support.

If you or someone you know is experiencing intimate partner violence, support is available. In Ontario, you can call the Ontario Women’s Domestic Violence Helpline at 1-800-663-1919 or visit www.sheltersafe.ca to find a shelter near you.

🦋 SAMSARA X CHRYSALIS - LIVE PAINT HIGHLIGHTS

"A Lifetime Ago"
24 X 24
Mixedmedia on Gallery canvas
Sold

🦋 This was my first @samsara.collective event and my very first solo live painting. From the cacao ceremony to the music/dancing it was dreamy vibes throughout the night. Thank you @samsara.collective for hosting such a wonderful event!

🦋 Special thanks to @thewindowsidemuse for bringing me in this space.

🦋 The evolution of my butterfly. She shines bright in this new high contrasting vibrant and dark palatte that spoke to me. I had a vague idea of what colours to use but I free flowed for the most part and I'm beyond content with the turn out.
The black drip at the bottom isn't my usual style but for this piece, (the fact that the event was called "Chrysalis") it felt right! Someone at the event said, "It feels like the butterfly is flying out of the goo that it turns into as a caterpillar through the process of chrysalis" and I love that!

DM for spring commissions.

Next live painting this week 03.09.23. Link in bio.

🎨 BOUNDLESS2.0 X LIVINGCOLOR.EVENTS - LIVE PAINTING HIGHLIGHTS

Another one for the books! This was my second live painting event of this year and the second time serving it with @livingcolor.events. What a well executed event to showcase artists from music to art. 👏🏽

The 8th Nebula I painted live at the event sold that night! In fact, there were bids before I even started painting it! Not gloating if it's facts, right? 😆 No seriously though, my heart is SO full from the kind of love and admiration so many of you showed me throughout the evening. Sending so much love to everyone that took the time to talk art/life with me. It means everything to feel seen. 🤍

Special thanks to the wonderful couple that stole my beautiful Nebula and made my night!!
