🏙️⛰️🏝️City, jungle, and then the beach – in that order. We've taken our MX participants on a ride (in a good way), and this is how we ended our expedition for 2026!

We'd also like to say thank you to YB Puan Leong Yu Man (Pahang State Unity, Tourism & Culture Exco), En/ Ami Akhram Abdullah (Director of Grantt Lubricants), and Pn. Nalini from Tourism Pahang for gracing our closing dinner with their presence. ✨

We trust that everyone had fun at Malayan Xpedition 2026. Keep your eyes peeled for updates on our next event – where we'll hope to see you again! 🤠

An impromptu (for me at least) and memorable dinner at @jalinankl. I would 100% return for all the dishes we ordered, especially for this Dry Laksa Ulam - it's not just hype 🤤

Urap Ikan, which is like ceviche. The fried leaf makes such a huge difference both in flavour and offering more texture in one satisfying bite.

I'd happily eat this Apple Kerabu Salad everyday.

I'd happily eat this Apple Kerabu Salad everyday.

Sea Prawn Sambal Goreng - wished I had some toasted bread or mantau to mop up what was left.

Melt-in-your-mouth Beef Gulai Tiga Sekawan.

Prawn Soto with prawn broth so rich, my soul felt so soothed.

I'm not a fan of pineapples (don't come at me), but these Pineapple Donuts served with the Cucumber Raita Ice-cream made me sing a different tune.

✨️2026 has been a year of many firsts.

My first 24-foot yee sang.
My first time stepping into a completely different workplace.
And the first time I truly struggled between choosing work and family.

Before my son turned two, this was the longest I had ever been away from him.
It has been the most challenging and changing year for me — not only as a chef, but as a person.

And then came these seven months.

Seven months may not sound like a long time, but somehow, it feels like we have known each other for much longer.

To Boss Aaron, my Head Chef — thank you for teaching me that being a chef is more than knife skills and cooking. You taught me how to face things, and reminded me to ask myself, especially when I wanted to give up, “What do you really want?”

To Boss AP — thank you for showing me how to look beyond the problem, stay rational, and see things from a clearer perspective.

To Boss Bimmy — thank you for showing me that hospitality is so much more than service. It is about people, timing, judgment, and knowing how to make someone leave a little happier than when they came in.

And to everyone I met along the way — thank you.
For the busy services, the mistakes, the laughter, the difficult days, and all the little moments in between.

Some chapters are not meant to last forever.
Some are simply meant to teach us something we need for the next part of our journey.

Seven months later, I leave as a slightly different person from the one who walked in.

Still learning. Still figuring things out.
But a little clearer about who I am, and the kind of life I want to build.

🩵Thank you for this chapter.
I will remember it for a long, long time.

Noodles that taste like home, just better than you remember. 🍜✨

We finally made it to Fifty Tales, the modern Malaysian Chinese spot everyone in KL keeps talking about. Even @katfewd was raving about it.

Handmade noodles, bold broths, and old family flavours dressed up for a new generation.
Tiny room, massive flavour. Worth every trip to this spot.

Huge thanks to our MY industry friends who have made the KL trip extra warm and fun and dragged us to this spot. @akhaltek @aidanlowyx @nicolesiewpao @ngyishaun @gigileow @bensonchang @veryveryverybigburger2.0

Special thanks to @aarondotk for cooking up amazing food here at Fifty Tales.

What started as an adventure quickly became one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had.

From off-roading deep into the wild, setting up camps, cooking together, tent hopping and sharing stories around the campsite, to somehow even cutting hair by the river! every moment was unexpected, wild and ridiculously fun.

But more than the adventure itself, what made Malayan Xpedition special was the people. Meeting so many new faces, making new friends and being surrounded by a community of like-minded people who share the same love for the outdoors, camping, adventure and simply having a good time.

Different backgrounds, different stories, but somehow everyone connected through the same spirit. Go wild, have fun and enjoy the journey.

It was muddy, tiring, spontaneous and sometimes completely out of my comfort zone, but that’s exactly what made it so memorable.

From the road to the river, from the campsite to the jungle, this was so much more than just an expedition.

It was a community, an adventure and a whole lot of unforgettable memories.

Already looking forward to the next one.

Thank you @malayanxpedition @bythebillions.my

Travelling out of wild camp spot to our base camp

It’s about a 2-3 hour drive

it has water, it has a toilet hole, it is covered. How much more luxury we can get 🤣

rearranging the cars at base camp.

first warm proper meal after 1 day of eating snacks and cold food

was walking around to observe everyone’s camp set up

Very tempted to get this tent 🤣

@khornering cooking tomahawk

ending the first night at base camp with a feast.

FIREMAPLE Cooking Challenge at Malayan Xpedition 2026 is a wrap! Yes chef! 👨‍🍳

From the cooking, the chaos, the creativity, and of course, the good food — we had a blast watching you guys bring your A-game to the challenge.

Safe to say, we had just as much fun seeing you guys have fun. 😎

Thank you to everyone who joined, cooked, cheered, and made the challenge one to remember. Until the next one!

Stranded in the Malaysian jungle for 4 days and 4 nights... why did I do this to myself? lol 🌿🇲🇾

Back with the ByTheBillion crew in Pahang’s 130-million-year-old rainforest! After surviving 10 days of the ”no-plan test“ with Benz Gaijin, I thought I was ready. But this time was on another level: no power, no toilets, zero cell service, driving off-road myself, and trekking/floating down a river for 10 km.

To make things even wilder, I got my period right in the middle of the jungle! Exhausted, sore, and fighting through it, I had to tap into every survival instinct I had.

Yet, sitting around the campfire having deep talks with everyone reminded me how little we actually need to feel fulfilled. The simplest things meant everything. Coming back home, I appreciate life so much more.
