Christina Kim of dosa’s Stone Pillow series is part of ATLA’s exhibition “the host, the guest,” curated by Nichole Caruso, opening this Saturday, January 17th, with a reception from 4–6pm.

Taking its title from Ryōta’s haiku, this exhibition seeks to embody the moment of stillness, mutual regard, and reverence captured in the poem.

Hallstein was the water sponsor for Children’s Action Network’s Winter Wonderland Gala at the iconic art gallery Hauser & Wirth. Supporters mingled with artists Kelly Akashi, Jenny Hata Blumenfield, Dale Hernsdorf, Sabrina Piersol, and Kirk Nix/KNA Design over bites of expertly prepared Green Circle chickens and Maine diver scallops by @manueladtla and bid on original works to benefit @childrensactionnetwork’s work raising awareness of older foster children needing forever homes. Founded by artist and ceramicist Jenny Hata Blumenfield (@ablueandwhite) and music exec and curator Ryu Takahashi, the space weaves their divergent creative backgrounds into a cohesive vision rooted in reverence—for high craft, community, and traditions new and old. With physical roots in Los Angeles and a deep cultural kinship with Tokyo, ATLA was born from a desire to honor overlooked artistry, celebrate the quiet endurance of crafted savoir-faire, and create an intergenerational, intercultural dialogue that flows freely across the Pacific.⁠

Reflecting on the gifts of summer and this incredible exhibition by Bruce Richards which will be especially difficult to say goodbye to— for those who succumbed to the heatwave, there is still one more week left to visit “Soundings” before it closes August 10th.

Sea View will close for the rest of August and reopen on September 12th. We wish everyone a relaxing rest of summer 🏖️
