Marriage is making compromises 😅
Going to a costumed birthday party of a friend:

Anne : Let’s go as a 1920’s flapper and sheik.
Me: but I want to go as a Star Wars character…
Compromise : we go as the “ROARING twenties” 🤪🤣

We’re celebrating World Animal Day with Zelda & Aibo today, & sending out our love to all our animal friends! ❤️🐾

But did you know that today is also World Ostomy Day? So we’re putting Sugi is the spotlight. Who is Sugi? She’s the name of my ostomy. I woke up with her after my doctors at @uzleuven.be were able to successfully remove my cancer.

What is an ostomy? It’s an opening on the abdomen that lets waste out of the body. In some cases it’s done temporarily, but the location of my cancer, a sarcoma that had snuggled up to my bootyhole 🙈🍑, meant that had to be closed off permanently. The tradeoff is I get to live. Sweet deal, right?

Living with Sugi has required some adjustment, not only physically, but mentally & emotionally. Nearly a year passed between receiving the news I would need an ostomy and Sugi’s arrival, and what really helped me prepare was reading, watching and learning from my fellow ostomates online. I learned that having an ostomy doesn’t prevent you from living a happy and fulfilled life. There are ups and downs, but that’s ok. And personally, adapting to life with Sugi has gone better than I expected. So for those of you who just got an ostomy, or will get one soon, don’t worry. You got this. 🫶🫶

It’s been a bit quiet on our account, so hooman is hijacking this post to give an update. I’ve been in & out of hospital the past weeks. Several blood clots were found in my lungs which required immediate treatment & I was put under observation at the hospital. These were caused by a mass found in my abdomen that’s putting pressure on blood vessels. I’ve had various examinations and keyhole surgery that has ruled out ovarian or colon cancer (the initial presumed diagnosis). Instead doctors found the mass is attached to my abdominal wall, and I’m getting a biopsy next week to find out what it is & determine next treatment steps. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster, so I’ve just been trying to enjoy resting & snuggling with the girls while I’m home. This weekend we hope to do that with a bit of sunshine 😎🥰☀️

Throwback to last week when we were on vacation while the hoomans were on their annual trip to New York. Apparently this place, #centralpark , is very popular with doggos but we won’t believe it until we see for ourselves. 🤔😄

Aibo went on a walk around the Golden Pavilion Temple, Kinkaku-ji and its surrounding gardens.
➡️Swipe for a better view of the temple. The gold comes from gold leaf that covers the exterior.
