we are STILL here!!! it just looks a little different nowadays🥹 and while we are booked and working on other things, our sweet Trío Líneas fills us with lots of love and inspiration🥳 Our art has shifted a bit as we focus on recording projects of our favorite works (commissioned, premiered or all of the above)

John graduate from his DMA program at @umichsmtd and is now collaborating with artists around the country (particularly in Arizona and NY!) all while teaching Music Theory at Hillsdale College🤩
Lexi is now the Assistant Performance Librarian & Concert Programs Manager at @umichsmtd AND Principal flute of Rochester Symphony Orchestra! All while performing and creating with @flydlphn.sextet
And I, Adalus, am working towards my MBA and my Master’s in Arts Administration at @uc_ccm while performing and touring across the country as the newest co-artistic director of @palaverstrings and still working with my beloved @internationalcelloinstitute as their managing director🫡

Needless to say, our hearts are full… as are our schedules — but we want to keep representing this group’s instrumentation and keep expanding the repertoire🥳 if you’d like to collab, DO reach out🤩

Meet Adalus, the newest member of our ensemble. We are so lucky to have her!

In her own words:

“¡¡¡¡HOLA!!!! Any day that I get to step into the “Palaverse” is a good day!

Being Palaver’s newest Co-Artistic Director has already filled my life with so much creativity and love!

Palaver has opened up my world to the social change that is possible when friends get together and join forces.

I am originally from Venezuela. I started my music education in the El Sistema program, and since picking up the cello, I have not looked back!

I grew up in a house full of laughter, asian-venezuelan food, wittiness, numbers, and family dance parties.

I love performing, arts administration, programming, teaching music, friendship, learning, and any and all bodies of WATER (I can and will jump on any river, lake, beach, ocean, puddle!)

I am humbled when I think about being a small piece of the puzzle that is Palaver. Every individual in the organization has taught me something about music and about myself: how I want to sound, how I want to lead, how I want to treat others, how I want to listen, how I want to support someone else’s ideas. I leave every cycle with an openness of heart and an increased awareness of my humanness.

When I think about this next season, my first one in the ensemble, I know it’s no coincidence that it is (one of) my lucky number(s): THIRTEEN!

So, make sure to keep your ears out for what’s coming!!!”

a favorite moment from “Fíjate” - a little Milonga tugging against Berlioz’s waltz at the Ball.

Much love to @palaverstrings for commissioning and premiering this work! More shows to come later this Fall!

Did you know: Palaver’s ensemble is entirely musician-led: Thirteen Co-Artistic Directors share musical and artistic leadership, rotating project direction between them, and the programming is shaped by individual musicians bringing their unique perspectives and expertise to the group.

Some of us also hold administrative roles, which means the one who selected the repertoire can also be the one answering your email!

Please join us in welcoming cellist @adaluscellow to Palaver Strings!

Adalus will join us beginning this fall, and we’re over the moon to have her as part of the ensemble.

Here’s a little message from Adalus herself:
As someone who loves joint effort and spaces where creating magic through the art of collaboration is at the forefront of each decision, I could not think of a more suitable, fruitful, and welcoming creative family to do this with than Palaver Strings. I am overwhelmed with joy, honor, and humility when I think of working with each of my colleagues, who are not only outstanding artists but also one-of-a-kind human beings.

We’re so glad you’re here!

True North, out now. The powerful original motion picture soundtrack to EMMY® AWARD WINNING director Michèle Stephenson’s latest PBS documentary .

Milne’s diverse compositional voice is boldly presented throughout, highlighting his abilities as a deft architect of melody, subtle texture and powerful emotionality. The music spans strict genre classification, exploring elements of meditative 1960s jazz, upbeat psychedelic 60s blues/rock, the visceral arpeggiated grit of avant-garde saxophone, and the moodiness of prepared and neo-classical piano atmospheres.

The score features performances from several of Milne’s long-time collaborators, including saxophonist Michael Attias, Ingrid Laubrock, bassist John Hebert, vocalist La Tanya Hall and drummer Tom Rainey. Recorded in Brooklyn and Ann Arbor, it also features contributions from several Michigan-based artists, including Jaribu Shahid, Marcus Elliot, Daniel Pinilla and Jon Taylor.

2x Juno Award-winning pianist-composer Andy Milne presents True North out June 19, 2026 on Contrology Records. True North is scheduled for a theatrical run at IFC in New York City from June 17 – 22, 2026, and will have its broadcast premiere on PBS’s Independent Lens on July 6 2026
