I couldn’t tell you how many times I made the drive to high school playing “Mean” on repeat the whole way there, blaring it as loud as I could to engrave those words in my mind just to get me through the day.

Reminding myself that high school wasn’t forever, that one day I’d have a chance to write my story out of that small town, and that those mean individuals (ooooffff they were so mean 😮‍💨), that their actions were more of a reflection on themselves than me.

I also hoped that the more times I played it, the better odds of that prophecy that Taylor Swift wanted so bad would come true for me too.

If only that girl could see into the future — we’d let her decide if all that she hoped for came true 🥹💗

There are a few hills I will lovingly die on....

1. If you have over 80 guests… we are doing a seating chart.

We are not having:
• Table anxiety
• Awkward hovering
• Guests “saving” chairs with purses
•People not sitting with who they actually wanted to

Assigned seating = calm room, smooth flow, elevated experience. Guest experience > chaos. Every time. Put the time in to make seating chart...please.

2. RSVP deadline 40 days before the wedding.

Why it matters:
• Final meetings feel calm, not rushed
• Budget numbers are accurate
• Catering counts are solid
• Seating chart can actually be done strategically (and early!)

Nothing spikes stress like chasing Aunt Linda for her chicken selection during wedding month. We plan ahead so the wedding month feels light. Not frantic.

3. A Realistic Timeline (No, We Cannot “Just Fit It In.”)

If your ceremony ends at 5:30 and dinner is at 6:45… we are not doing:
• 50 combinations of family photos
• Full wedding party photos
• Couple portraits
• Cocktail hour mingling
• AND entering reception by 6:30

We build margin.
Margin = breathing room.
Breathing room = joy.
We are not speed-running your wedding day.

4. You Must Eat. Period.

I do not care how busy the day is.
I do not care how many people want photos.
You are sitting down and eating.
Low blood sugar brides are not a vibe. 😅
Neither are dehydrated grooms. 🤪
You paid for the filet. You’re eating the filet. 👏

5. No DIY Setup on Wedding Day
You are not setting up votives at 11am in your pajamas.
That’s not the energy.

You get ready.

You soak it in.

We handle logistics.  This is why we only offer full-service package - meaning, we handle it all on wedding day!✨

Our girl, Ali, is your newest Academy All-Star!!! 🥂🥂  On Saturday night, we were so lucky to celebrate her recognition from our wedding vendor community — a prestigious award granted to only 3 employees a year in the entire Kansas City wedding industry (and there’s over 10,000!).

Ali began with TPT as an Assistant Coordinator in the fall of 2022 — swipe to the end to see a photo from her very first wedding day! 🥹 And from then on, she soaked up all the knowledge she could about this industry and quickly climbed the ranks into Lead Coordinator and now a Lead Planner.

Ali is widely recognized by wedding vendors + couples for being their go-to girl — an excellent problem solver, a friendly yet professional face in the room, incredibly organized + thorough, and someone you can truly count on to take initiative and get things done 👏🏼

To see the industry love her as much as we do, see the potential I saw from the first interview, and award her for all of her hard work is everything to me as a leader.

Gosh, I am so so so proud of her. We have been through a lot together — not just in business, but life that was happening along the way too. Tears were coming down as she stood on that stage and memories flashed back through the years.

There is no one more deserving - a woman dedicated to her couples, her team, and her vendors through and through. I’ve always known she was an All-Star but seeing the rest of our community see that too, means everything to me 🥹

With Ali’s deserving win, The Perfect Touch KC is now the ONLY company in the entire KC wedding community to have more than one Academy All-Star in their history…AND 👏🏼 WE 👏🏼 HAVE 👏🏼 THREE 👏🏼

It’s just an incredible feeling as a leader to see your team recognized for all the things you see day in and day out — and hearing Ali’s name called on Saturday night was a moment we’ll all remember forever 💗

The gala was so beyond amazing! Absolutely forever grateful to be part of the KC wedding vendor community. What a gift it is to build alongside people who are wildly talented and even better humans.

So proud of @ali_calhoon for taking home Academy All Star, beyond deserving and such a reflection of the heart she pours into this industry.🥹

I couldn’t help but think about how a year ago I walked into this same gala just 12 weeks into business, introducing myself to Taylor Paige and hoping I’d find my place. Now I have a thriving wedding content business, I’m part of the TPT team, and I was a nominee this year. Life moves so quickly. I’m forever grateful for the growth and the doors this industry has opened for me.

And to top it all off… I finally brought my wife to an event 😂 She never comes to anything, so this was officially her debut. Yes, she’s real. And yes, I loved getting to share this world with her. ✨
