“Big Bend continues to hold my attention as an artist becasue one lifetime is not enough time to paint all the things in Big Bend that make it special. It holds your attention.

Big Bend has taught me… be still, enjoy the solitude, come back a changed person.”

Made a quick trip to Alpine to see the Texas Trappings show at the @museumofthebigbend where we caught up with several artist friends and met some new ones! We stopped in at the V6 Gallery at the @gageresort where I have some of my work and enjoyed a drink and a bite to eat at the White Buffalo Bar. If you’ve never stayed at the Gage, I highly encourage a visit - as I do a visit to Alpine! We thoroughly enjoyed the opening events, demos and beautiful art! Ironically we finally met a fellow Christoval resident, @wilsoncapron whose silversmithing work is truly breathtaking! We also found some time to check out some of our favorite shops in Alpine - @front_street_books and Cheshire Cat Antiques where I spotted this great vintage fringed suede jacket, and yes, I did bring it home with me! 😉 The exhibition is up for several more weeks and there are still some amazing pieces to be had you can view online! My friend @colleen_obrien also has a show there as well showcasing her environmentally themed work from @bigbendnps! #debbiecarrollfineart #thegage #marathon #alpine #museumofthebigbend

this summer i spent two weeks under the west texas sun, making photographs, meeting strangers who became friends, wandering through the desert, and remembering how good it feels to slow down.

so grateful to the @willowhouse_ for giving me a little corner of the desert to create in. i left with more than just rolls of film.

until next time, terlingua <3

Made some fun memories out in the desert recently. One thing I love more than getting to know art, is getting to know the ones who make it. Love and miss these people and this place

when nature influences the art, influencing the night sky, influencing the flow of water, influencing the open road, influencing the strum of a guitar, influencing connection. here, at the edge of a nonexistent border, where limestone canyons hold the void, and desolate land meets desolate sky, you’ll find the last water droplet.

I feel extremely lucky to have had some uninterrupted creative time at the @willowhouse_ artist residency with an amazingly sweet and talented group of artists.

Hopefully it doesn’t get scratched while traveling

@aliceleese is my favorite artist and if you like what she painted on my keytar, then you’re gonna like all her other paintings!
