Clara Schweers @claerira is a German designer and artist working across glass and digital 3D modelling. Through repetition, distortion and material translation, her work explores the relationship between intimacy and display, considering glass not only as a sculptural material but primarily as a medium through which we view, access and interpret the world. Using stock characters, animation and digital motion libraries as a starting point, she creates sculptural works that explore the spaces between digital and physical experience.

Errance @maison.errance is a France-based design studio founded by multidisciplinary designer Sarah Iannarella. After graduating in Graphic Design, she completed a Master’s degree at the University of the Arts London (UAL), exploring the dialogue between emerging technologies and traditional craftsmanship. Through functional sculptures, the studio transforms two-dimensional forms into sculptural volumes using 3D modelling, 3D printing, casting, and plant-based dyeing. Influenced by organic structures, typography, science, and Mediterranean heritage, each piece balances experimentation with a quiet, expressive presence.

Liquid Rituals @liquid_rituals is a ceramic research and production studio founded in 2023 by @giuliabraglia_ and @gabrielenasole. The studio approaches ceramic as an archive: a material capable of preserving meanings, from ancient traditions to the transformations of the landscapes we inhabit and shape. Through research in the Netherlands, Japan and Italy, the duo investigates wood firing, glaze chemistry and forming techniques. Their work consists in creating functional objects that become part of everyday life, transforming repetitive gestures into rituals of consumption.

Alicia Freja Chillie Borssén @aliciafreja is a Swedish artist, storyteller and researcher working across sculptures, paintings, space, installations, sound and video. She is based between Denmark and Sweden but uses the whole world as a workspace. Her work revolves around the mystic and surreal - humanitarian and nature rights, telling the forgotten stories hidden in the past.

bureau fomo — the transdisciplinary curatorial duo of Hanna Gassner and Christoph Wimmer-Ruelland — works across spatial design, exhibitions, art direction, management, and design research. For VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, they present their first exhibition, NEAR, FAR, WHEREVER YOU ARE, featuring a selection of international and Vienna-based artists and designers.

The immersive installation reimagines the home office as a hybrid space where visibility and anonymity, physical and digital presence merge. Once a temporary solution, the home office has become a permanent condition in which the boundaries between public and private, here and elsewhere, work and leisure blur into one continuous environment.

In April I took part in a workshop initiated by @nicolasjaar where we explored breath as a relational act, sympathetic resonance, as sound, listening. The three days brought up conversations about nature’s subtle resistance, like how dunes in the desert can complicate oil and gas exploitation because of their singing sound. It reminded me of a book I love, Minor Gestures by Erin Manning, who (inspired by Guattari and Deleuze), views the minor as a gestural force that “opens experience to its potential variation.” Transformation as something that happens before recognition, in the barely perceptible.

Thank you to @intonalfestival & @nicolasjaar for making it possible for us to meet and share, nudging things into motion. As Manning writes in her book: “My life is changed, continuously, by the thinking that moves us.”

The violence of complexity is slow – Making slow violence meted out over centuries by oppressive systems palpable

Presenting the DAE Graduation Show 2025 Narratives #6 (part 2) by @nadineb0tha with Head of MA Critical Inquiry Lab @a.m._patricia

Andrea De la Peña Aguirre’s (@andreamichael.dlp) ‘Structures of Fear’ connects the global history of cotton production to gender-based violence, using textiles as a material witness to resilience and systemic oppression. Catalina Gómez Alvarez’s (@catalina_gomez_alvarez) ‘Kuchen de Manzana’ uses apple cake as a lens to explore how everyday culinary traditions normalize colonial histories and German settlement in indigenous Mapuche territories. Petr Kroschinsky’s (@petrkroschinsky) ‘Eternal Artefact’ reimagines Soviet-era porcelain insulators as ‘future fossils,’ questioning the ecological and geopolitical legacy of industrial infrastructure in Georgia.

Abby Yang’s (@a.dehamster) ‘After Handing Over the Horses’ employs cyanotype moving imagery to reflect on the psychological ruptures and identity shifts caused by Taiwan’s history of authoritarianism. Sophie Chalmin’s ‘The Scoriae of the Bomb’ investigates the radioactive legacy of French nuclear tests in the Algerian Sahara, using contaminated copper to challenge colonial narratives of justice.
Phoebe Hotopf’s (@phoebeeyyy) ‘Mouth as Site’ is an interactive sound installation that disrupts forensic systems used in asylum procedures, reclaiming the voice as something plural and resistant to biometric control. Alicia Borssén’s (@aliciafreja) ‘Loose Ends’ weaves together metalwork and sound to confront Sweden’s 17th-century witch trials, calling for historical accountability and a formal apology from the Church.

DON'T MOVE THE FOUNTAIN was exhibited last year at both @viennadesignweek and @dutchdesignweek, and was the collective baby of the 24/25 class of Contextual Design MA students 🎓🎓🎓🎓🧑‍🍼🥹

The title was a nod to the concurrent sentiment we shared at the time <DON'T MOVE THE SCHOOL> when @designacademyeindhoven was nearly relocated OUT of Eindhoven ⛔️😶

For this installation (spearheaded by Viennese hotshot & ringleader @wimmrue 💋🫡), we dispersed into groups & each crafted a unique fountain head 🐲🔪⛲️

My DREAMTEAM consisted of @jonghoo.jeong & @baidageorge 💫 Over the summer, we foraged scrap materials from our home countries, then breathed new purpose and narrative by collaging them together, then encrypting a message. In it's fullness, it would've read: "𝐁𝐔𝐓 𝐀𝐒 𝐁𝐎𝐃𝐈𝐄𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐖𝐄 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐊 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐒𝐄𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐄. 𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐎𝐖𝐍 𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐎𝐃𝐈𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓.. 𝐈𝐒 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐀𝐔𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐎𝐌𝐎𝐔𝐒... 𝐖𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐑𝐄 𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐁𝐎𝐃𝐈𝐄𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐁𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐔𝐒 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐎 𝐁𝐄𝐈𝐍𝐆." - 𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐀𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚 𝐍𝐞𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬

Around us is often too much noise, destruction. We need more than ever reparation, reconstitution, and a belief that even from rubble, water and new life can still spring. 🌿💧

Launching at this years Vienna Design Week 2025, the first exhibition „near, far, wherever you are“ will showcase a selection of international and Viennese artists and designers. Focusing on visibility + anonymity, public + private spaces and objects, physical + digital presence, an immersive spatial installation and curated section will emerge within a home-office setting.

Once a temporary fix, now a permanent condition: home-offices are set between the boundaries between public and private, here and there, labor and leisure, collapsing into a single hybrid space.
In „near, far, wherever you are“, home-office is a metaphor for today’s fluid, flexible spaces and hybrid realities. The title reflects a contemporary reality, where an office can be at home or on a distant island, just as an exhibition can take place in a gallery, online, or even in an apartment. It suggests a world where geographic location and distance no longer defines our presence. Connections are emotional, virtual, and spatially redefined. Through objects, spatial interventions and narrative atmospheres, the show invites visitors to reconsider how we experience space, how we connect and how the boundaries we once relied upon are continually redrawn.
