Despite appearing to be a brown and white bulldog, Lulu knows different. On the outside she has ‘soft, fuzzy fur’ and a little nub that wiggles when she’s happy, Lulu knows what she really is deep down; she knows too that she lacks a rhino’s horn. Off she goes through he streets of New York City to search for an alternative. What about an ice-cream cone? Or perhaps a sock or maybe a traffic cone. What she has to make in the rhino enclosure. with is a banana skin. Well temporarily at least because she’s spotted by a headstrong pigeon that flies off with her ‘horn’. Angrily, Lulu dashes off to retrieve it and goes into New York City Zoo and where does she find herself but in the rhino enclosure. There she encounters Flom Flom, a tickbird who explains that 'every rhino has antickbird, and every tickbird has a rhino. Will they form the appropriate bond?
A sweet but somewhat silly tale featuring a character who now stars in a tv show.

Lulu is a Rhinoceros

Oh sweet Lulu with your soft fur and wrinkly snout, you are the squishiest…… rhinoceros?

Lulu is convinced that she is a rhinoceros and don’t you dare tell her otherwise. All she needs is a horn. She tries a few options on for size but they don’t seem to quite work. Until her adventures lead her into the zoo’s rhino exhibit.

This is such a lighthearted, funny tale. You just can’t help falling in love with Lulu. We can’t wait to see where she goes next!

Alli!!!! I have known this beautiful soul @allisonflom since she was just a teenager and her dad introduced us so I could help her learn about my client, Kevin Keith. Last night we met for the first time, 16+ years later! Besides the fact that she just lights up a room with her personality, this woman does so much good to advocate for criminal justice reform and personally facilitates art workshops in several New York prisons. What a force. Love you, Alli! Thanks for coming to support. ♥️

We're so excited to share our new interview with the amazing @allisonflom — the author of Lulu is a Rhinoceros — on the Little Kids, Big Hearts podcast. Allison chats with Todd and Kid Interviewer Briar about "Lulu" — which is now a series on Apple+ TV in addition to being an adorable and inspirational picture book about being yourself, tolerance, and acceptance!

This holiday season, we're especially grateful for GOSO leaders like Allison Flom (@allisonflom), voted in as Action Board Co-Chair earlier this year! 🎊
Allison is a writer, artist, and dedicated advocate for social justice and human rights. Since 2017, she's facilitated weekly arts and wellness workshops with incarcerated women at Bedford Hills and Taconic—work she helped start and continues to grow.

She serves on the Boards of Directors at Just Detention International and The Sunny Center, advocating for survivors of incarceration and abuse. Her creative work includes writing the script and lyrics for "Lulu Is A Rhinoceros" (Apple TV+) and adapting her award-winning podcast "Erased: The Murder of Elma Sands" into a limited series.

When she's not changing the world, you'll find her with her rescue dog, PJ. We're so grateful to have Allison's leadership, creativity, and heart on the Action Board! 💙

When my big brother was little he was severely learning disabled and no school would admit him so my Mom founded The Gateway School for him and kids like him. He went on to get his PHD and he invited the doctor who told our Mom that he would never be able to go to college to his graduation party! Tonight it was a thrill for @allisonflom and I to host a screening of the @appletv show we created, Lulu is a Rhinoceros at the school!! 📸s by @khaliahali
