Hi my name is Ambercita. I’ve been a photographer for 5 years. There would be so many times when I was editing that my add would have me so distracted watching either tiny desk or music videos. In love with both, the raw performance or seeing the passion unfold on a screen with no cuts or retakes and then the other side of that where I got to see so many different artistic abilities collectively create one vision in a music video. So compelled to MAYBE do that one day.

And did I. ..

This is me. Warming up. Dipping my toes. Terrified. The amount of time I’ve swam in the imposter syndrome pool over wanting to direct music videos. I directed my first video like two years ago and still it sits in the vault over not feeling good enough. This feeling was new to me. I never struggled with imposter syndrome when it came to photography because I felt there was no expectation. But here I land as the Ambercita, tapping into a new genre and I was and am terrified.

But ima do it anyways.

Enjoy some clips I’ve shot recently. Most are unreleased. Many things in the vault will see light this year.

when things fall apart do you miss them more?

A lot of you don’t know. I came out of college as a wardrobe stylist. I was on set, mainly indie films and commercials. It was @lastlookswitherica who would bring me onto set, time and time again. She did the makeup and I styled the wardrobe. We would jump ideas off each other, it was a small tight team inside the big team we were working with on each project. The crew transitioned, but we remained. My sister sold on Poshmark at the time (a family of hustlers) and it was time for a camera upgrade. She handed me her old Olympus Pen. I brought it to set, and Erica let me document her process. She did hair and makeup for artist like @jhayco , @deorro , @clubzclubz and @equihua_official I documented all while styling these artist. Time went by and COVID shut down began. That’s when the seeds were planted.

Wait okay I’m working on my portfolio and the amount of gems that I keep finding is crazy. I feel like I’m cleaning up my room and finding all these memories! I’ve also come to see why I got so burnt out. I’ve done the MOST for every single project I’ve been on. I’ve poured all of my heart & intention into all. On @moyanasmusic PTCHWRK project alone I’ve played a part in so many different ways and @ambercitas.studio has seen some sweat & tears over it. This project means an incredible amount to me, it’s one of the projects I turned to with all of my emotions during my high & during my crash out. I’m revisiting all the work and I’m excited to share all the parts I’ve played in it.

Side note. @moyanasmusic & @7.vnth are the most incredible duo I have witnessed. They make my heart so warm. & seeing @rhome1of1 front row loud as hell with his love and support towards Moyana is the most beautiful & pure thing to witness.

Forever love @studioshapeschi for all the power, love & talent it holds.
