Live. Laugh. Love.

Those are the only L’s that I believe in. They are the ones that define who we are and what matters to us most.

What we live for.

Who we laugh with.

Who and what we love.

I’d choose you in every lifetime.

Don’t buy my book if your business is already doing everything you want it to do.

If your books are full, your waitlist is overflowing, your dream clients find you without you chasing them, you know exactly what makes you different, and you never feel the need to discount just to fill a gap…

You’re good. Keep scrolling!

But if you’re talented and still wondering why your business doesn’t feel as in-demand as it should, that’s exactly why I wrote If You Build It, They Will Come.

This book is about building a business people understand, trust, want to be part of — and come looking for.

Not more random posting.
Not more discounting.
Not more trying to be for everybody.

Build it intentionally in 90 days.

If one of these slides hit a nerve, the book is probably for you.

Comment BUILD and I’ll send you the link!

She drives 45 minutes past 6 nail salons to get here. 🚗

When I asked her why, she said: “Nobody else takes their time with me.”

And that sat with me all day. Because here’s what I know after doing this for years — women don’t drive past 6 salons for polish.

They drive for the feeling. Being unrushed. Being listened to. Walking out knowing it’ll still look perfect in 3 weeks.

Right here babe ⬇️ this is what we built The Nail Room for. Not fast nails. Not cheap nails. The kind of appointment you actually look forward to.

What’s the farthest you’ve ever traveled for a beauty appointment — and was it worth it? 🤎

🍂 Rochester, your Fall Issue is here!

This one is made for a cozy afternoon and a little “me time.”

On the cover, we're featuring Amber Peraino of @thenailroomroc, a mom, business owner, and all-around powerhouse who is building something pretty incredible while raising her babies along the way. Her story is about ambition, motherhood, a little beautiful chaos, and creating a business that makes room for other women to grow, build careers, and feel valued. Because sometimes the biggest thing you can build isn’t just a business, it’s a community.

We’re also pulling up a chair for Coffee Talk with some of our favorite Rochester small business women. We asked them about fall traditions, big “yes” moments, business lessons, and the things that really matter. Basically, the kind of conversations you’d have with your girlfriends over coffee. ☕️

We’re finding your voice with @thekimberlylaforte, getting a fresh perspective on money mindset with _successwithannette, and celebrating @disabilityempowhernetwork, who are finding their voices, owning their power, and creating opportunities to lead, grow, and pursue their dreams.

And we’re making a little room for creativity with Rochester artist @michelle_roberts_fine_art, who reminds us that sometimes finding yourself starts with something you loved all along.

Plus, plenty of local businesses, shopping, restaurants, events, inspiration, and all the little things that make Rochester feel like home.

Our Home Team is getting ready to deliver throughout the area, so keep an eye out at Wegmans, local businesses, coffee shops, boutiques and your favorite neighborhood spots.

🍁 Pick up a copy, settle in, and enjoy a little Rochester fall.

@amberperaino is building an empire while being a mama, creating community over competition and we are so here for it!

Coming soon. 🍂

We know our lane. 🤎

Yesterday we talked about something clients aren’t always told: nail techs have niches.

So today, let’s talk about ours.

At The Nail Room, Russian Manicures and structured gel aren’t just services we happen to offer. They’re techniques we’ve intentionally invested our time, education and training into.

Because we’re obsessed with the details.

The cuticle work you can barely see. The structure that keeps a nail balanced. Knowing when a client needs more support—and when she doesn’t. Choosing a product based on the nail in front of us instead of reaching for the same jar every time.

You see the finished manicure. We see everything underneath it.

And that’s what specialization looks like.

We don’t want to be the salon that can kinda do everything.

We want to be exceptionally good at what we do.

Tomorrow: let’s talk about why hard gel, builder gel, polygel and acrylic are not interchangeable—even though they might look that way from the other side of the table. 👀

A nail tech is not just a nail tech.

This came up during our team meeting yesterday and I haven’t stopped thinking about it.

A guest recently asked one of our artists about polygel because we work with hard gel. To someone outside of our industry, that makes complete sense—gel is gel, right?

Except it’s not.

And I realized that as an industry, we haven’t done a great job explaining this.

Nail artists have niches.

Some artists can sculpt an acrylic extension in their sleep. Some create insane hand-painted nail art. Some specialize in natural nails. Some are pedicure experts. Some have spent hundreds of hours mastering Russian Manicure techniques.

Expertise isn’t knowing how to do everything. Sometimes expertise is knowing exactly what you do exceptionally well—and what you don’t.

At The Nail Room, we aren’t trying to be everything to everyone.

We know our lane. And we take that lane very seriously. 🤎

So this week we’re pulling back the curtain on nail specialties, starting with ours.

Because you shouldn’t just be looking for a nail tech. You should be looking for the right nail tech.

IF YOU BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME

Celebrating One Year at 200 Anderson

One year ago today, we expanded into 200 Anderson Avenue.

And if you had asked me then what we needed, the answer probably would have been simple:

More space.

We were growing. Nail technicians were reaching out for employment. My waitlist was growing. And the little suite we loved could no longer contain the vision I had for The Nail Room.

So I moved.

But somewhere along the way, those extra square feet became something much bigger.

Over the last year, 200 Anderson has become home to new artists, new services, team meetings, education, events, celebrations, hard conversations, big ideas and thousands of appointments.

We’ve watched new clients become regulars.

We’ve watched nail technicians become artists.

We’ve watched women sit across the table from each other and realize that their nail appointment can somehow become the best two hours of their week.

And we’ve learned that growth doesn’t always look like more.

Sometimes it looks like making enough room for other people to grow beside you.

When I first started saying, “If you build it, they will come,” I was talking about clients.

Build the experience. Build the reputation. Build the kind of place people want to be, and trust that they will find you.

A year into this chapter, that phrase means something different.

We’re still building for our clients.

But we’re also building for the next nail technician who wants a career instead of just a job. The woman who wants to walk into the beauty industry and know there is a seat for her. The artist who needs someone to hold the door open long enough for her to walk through it.

200 Anderson gave us more square footage.

What I didn’t realize was how much room it would give us to dream bigger.

Happy one year to our home.

We’re not done building yet.
