STUDIO IMAULÉ | A STUDY IN SENSORY DESIGN

At Studio Imaulé, we approach design through the five senses, creating spaces that are as considered in their function as they are in their aesthetic expression.

For this three-bedroom company residence, the brief centred on three professionals: two young executives and a senior professional whose living environment required thoughtful mobility considerations.

Our design process began long before the selection of furniture, finishes or materials.

We spent time at the company’s offices and operational sites, immersing ourselves in its culture, understanding its values and considering how these could be translated into a residential environment.

The result is a space that balances individual needs with a cohesive design narrative.

Working with our in-house artist, we developed and commissioned a series of bespoke artworks, each conceived to complement the interiors while creating moments of curiosity and conversation. Art, in this instance, became more than decoration; it became a means of storytelling.

Throughout the residence, materiality, texture, colour, spatial flow and sensory details were carefully considered to create an environment that feels both personal and purposeful. Accessibility was integrated into the design language rather than treated as an afterthought.

Because good design should do more than look beautiful. It should understand the people who inhabit it.

At Studio Imaulé, our practice extends across private residences, commercial environments, hospitality, spatial concepts and curated experiences.

Whether we are reimagining a home, shaping a workplace or creating an environment for guests to gather, our philosophy remains the same:

To design for all five senses, with intention behind every detail.

On Sunday 9 August, we asked twenty strangers in London to sit at one table and put their phones away.

Not as a statement against technology, but as an invitation to be present.

As Maison Imaulé grows, we have been thinking deeply about what it means to build a home in a city. We believe it begins long before the doors to a hotel open. It begins with the people who will eventually walk through them.

So, in every city we hope to one day call home, we want to build community first.

Around the table, twenty strangers shared food, conversation and an afternoon designed around the five senses: the flowers they saw, the playlist they heard, the flavours they tasted, the linen they touched and the scent they would remember.

Afterwards, we welcomed our members into the Maison Imaulé gifting suite our interpretation of the hotel gift shop where they were invited to choose something from the House to take home with them.

These details are intentional.

The table. The music. The scent. The linen. The gift shop.
The people.

Each is teaching us something about the kind of house we want to build.

As Maison Imaulé continues into new cities, we will keep setting tables, creating rooms and building community in the places we hope to eventually have a permanent home.

Because we don’t want to arrive in a city and simply open our doors.

We want to know the people on the other side of them.

And as this next chapter of Maison Imaulé takes shape, we are taking our members with us one room at a time.

Maison Imaulé began with linens, we began considering how you dressed, then we began considering how you lived.

The flowers you would see. The music you would hear.
The flavours you would taste. The linen you would touch.
The scent you would remember.

Then we asked everyone to put their phones away.

Not because we didn’t want you to capture the moment.

But because we wanted you to have one.

The linen was the beginning.

The table came next.

And one day, there will be a room waiting for you too.

We’re still thinking about our evening with @platesandppl an intimate beginning to a linen summer.

Last Friday, we opened the doors of the house for a supper club centred around conversation, texture, scent, sound, and the quiet beauty of gathering around a table.

There’s something timeless about sharing food with people you may have arrived with as strangers and left feeling connected to.

Over the next few posts, we’ll take you further inside the evening the details, the tablescape, the conversations, the atmosphere.

For one bank holiday weekend, we’re opening the doors to Maison Imaulé in Covent Garden.
