Calling all artists!!! ————————————————————————
The world is kind of an upside down, surreal place right now, and—if you’re anything like me—maybe you have a lot of feelings about that. (To put it lightly.) As artists, sometimes we create from a place of abundance—a well overflowing with joy— other times times we create from places of hardship and pain. From the bottom of the hole.
Creating from this place is never easy, but it is almost always necessary.
Right now there’s so much uncertainty and anxiety and it’s hard to know what to do with it all. Especially if you’re pacing inside your apartment, alone, somewhere. People are experiencing this across the globe.
People in Italy are finding ways to combat this feeling of separation by standing on their balconies and hanging out of their windows playing music for each other. Singing and dancing. (If you haven’t seen it— I recommend you go YouTube it right now.) But some of us aren’t in such close proximity to one another. So what can we do to fuel that connection and spread that kind of beauty and joy?
Well.. If you are someone social distancing yourself right now I want to challenge you to MAKE SOMETHING today!
Could be anything— write a poem, make a blackout poem (!), play an instrument, sing a song, draw a picture, paint something, arrange some flowers, bake a pie, build a fork sculpture if that’s what you’re into (🤷‍♀️). Literally anything. Then post on your story/timeline and tag me @littlegoldenblackoutpoems and I’ll share with everyone. ALSO. Tag your artist friends in the comments so they can be included too!

March 28th
10am-12pm

We'll meet at @thelighthaus.coworking , a gorgeous Black woman owned co-working space with a dedicated meditation room!

We'll begin with some grounding, breathing, and meditating, and move into a guided dance practice (led by the fabulous @jylanimaat.blacklotusrising and her bomb playlist ) designed to help us feel joy and release our inhibitions and fear. You'll be in community, safe, elevated, and loved. No experience with meditation or dance necessary!

We'll follow this with some supported silence + journaling (led by @itsmechrisjohnson ), plus some time to decompress and chat about the practice. After the programming is done, you'll have time to snack and mingle, build community and meet new folks casually. For Black, Brown, Indigenous + Folks of Color who are Women/Womxn + Femmes (femme-identified GNC inclusive). *

Systah Sits is coming up January 25th!

Life has brought us a various bowls of cherries this January, so our ability to finalize the details happened later than usual. We so thank you for your patience!

This Systah Sits will be a little different :) We're going to the beach! Reconnecting with the elements, just after the new moon. Fire, Water, Air, Earth. Bonfire, ocean, breeze, sand.

We'll meditate briefly as the winter sun sets (5:15pm). Then, we'll make use of twilight to mingle and nibble as we write down and draw any element of Self that you'd like to release, and place it in the fire. Watch it burn away and create space for your you to thrive.

In the cozy darkness, we'll relax with the sound of crystal singing bowls with background singers of 🌊 waves 🌊 and the 🌬️ ocean breeze 🌬️
