Opens tomorrow!

Presented by @vertdesignstudio Interpretations is an ongoing exhibition series exploring the adaptability and currency of industrial design.

For its sixth edition, Interpretations invited local designers to experiment with carbon fibre — exploring its material qualities and potential.

“Carbon fibre is a material that has been in use and development for more than a century. But its use has been relegated to performance sports and transportation. The material is underused because designed are ‘gatekept’ from engaging with it.” — @andrewcsimpson

Location: @barometergallery in Paddington

Opening Hours:
Friday 16th 10 am - 6 pm
Saturday 17th 10 am - 6 pm
Sunday 18th 11 am - 4 pm
Monday 19th 10 am - 6 pm

We’re excited to announce the launch of Interpretations VI, an experimental exhibition exploring the possibilities of carbon fibre.

Interpretations is an ongoing exhibition series curated by Vert Design, held every two years. Each instalment brings together local design pioneers to explore a particular material or manufacturing process, celebrating the adaptability, creativity and continued relevance of industrial design.

For this sixth instalment, we’re showcasing work by a talented group of designers pushing the boundaries of carbon fibre through experimentation, material exploration and unexpected applications.

Curated by Vert Design (Andrew Simpson, Caity Duffus and Eloise Cleary)

Exhibition from Friday 16th - Monday 19th October 2026.

We look forward to welcoming you to the exhibition!

Congratulations Andrew

What a way for Andrew to finish the JB Sharp Series at the weekend — taking out his race by the narrowest of margins and securing the overall series point score with a comfortable lead. 🚣‍♂️💨

And with that, the Walker and Hall Chalice returns to NSRC! 💙🤍

A fantastic series, a nail-biting finish and a little piece of NSRC history.

Huge congratulations, Andrew! 👏

*created from single use plastic bags at a time when they were still a ubiquitous part of life - we believed (and still do) these Ghostware objects would become the ghost of a messy past

**created from 100% ocean plastic waste washed out of the great pacific garbage patch onto the eastern seaboard of Oz and collected from the shores by a myriad of volunteers over the years from individuals to organisations @take3forthesea @seashepherd and @seashepherdaustralia

@eloiseclearydesign from @vertdesignstudio shares why the Symbiocene and Guidebook matter to her — both as a designer and as a person.

@brandon.gien on the Symbiocene Guidebook:

“It’s a big, audacious goal. How do we shift our society and our economy from where we are now to this Symbiocene era?

For me, that hits home on every single level. What world do I want to leave my kids, and their kids?

After 30 years in this industry, to see something like this — with a practical, real-world way of showing designers how they can help achieve that.

I think that’s incredibly special.”
