I was so grateful to be apart of this intimate, and intentionally curated event by the founder of Brown Bodies - @anisah_ob Brown Bodies is a platform that features stories of the South Asian diaspora from our own voices. Anisah identified a problem that existed within the South Asian diaspora, and took it upon herself to bring about change in talking about sex, relationships and love, and how it impacts us.

Asking ourselves how do we view it, what have we heard about these things growing up, and how do they paint the lens on how we see the world?

Anisah is extremely meticulous, intentional and gracious with this space, and it’s been an absolute pleasure supporting her in bringing this event to light.

She invited @sunny.lb1 from @latebloomerseries , and myself to share our perspectives on this topic. Sunny chatted about the lessons he learnt about intimacy growing up, how that’s changed his relationship to love and sex now, and how that impacts the stories he tells, and characters he plays. I shared my perspectives on how this shapes how we see the world, and the themes I see in my work as a therapist.

If you’ve watched Late Bloomer, or know Sunny, you know that the room continued to erupt in laughter through his candidness, transparency, and relatability regarding his life experiences. He has the ability to make you feel as though you’ve got nothing to hide, and nothing to be ashamed of.

Here’s a little snippet of the event, if you’re interested in future events, writings, and supporting Brown Bodies, the experiences shared on the blog is a great place to start! See if it resonates with you, and why it’s important to share this space with others.

Also the chai at @mayilcoffee was incredible, a big thank you to their team for the space, and delish snacks. And most importantly thank you to everyone who showed up!! You make experiences like these possible:) 🥰

Last week we celebrated five years of unlock VC on International Women’s Day, with our founding partner Cooley 🥳🥳🥳

It was so amazing to mark the moment with a room full of people who have supported unlock VC in so many ways over the last five years.

Thank you to everyone who joined us 💜
