Join me on Saturday, October 3 for Aesthetic Inheritance: Art, Archive, and African American Life, a dynamic symposium bringing together scholars, artists, and cultural workers to explore African American art, archives, memory, and historical documentation. I will be presenting on Overstand’s (@ovr.stand) “Lofi Might Save America” tape.

The symposium will begin with an opening plenary at the Banneker-Douglass-Tubman Museum (@bannekerdouglasstubmanmuseum) on October 1, followed by two days of programming at Bowie State University (@bowiestateuniversity) on October 2 and 3. Hope to see you there! 🔗 in bio ❤️

I’ve lived quite a few different lives — and frequently forget 🙃

But I was reminded last week about a photo series I did 8 years ago (which is wildddd) called Black Renaissance for a previous initiative of mine called @distinctlycreative 💕

It featured DMV-based Black creatives & entrepreneurs that I admired, close friends, and folks who were/still are doing really amazing work ✨

😓 there are many many things I would have done differently — so I look back at these photos with nostalgia and quite a bit of cringe 💀

But I love unintentional full circle moments like these — which makes me even more excited for next Saturday ☺️
