EVERYONE IS A COLLECTOR — LA Edition

What a weekend. A packed house at Black House LA, filled with artists, collectors, thinkers, and culture‑builders all committed to growing this ecosystem with intention.

We shared knowledge, strategies, and real‑world pathways for beginning (or deepening) the collecting journey. A huge thank you to our featured speakers — LA collector/entertainment exec Niija Kuykendall and LA County Arts Commissioner & Black House LA founder Pamela Bright Moon — for dropping gems that will stay with us for a long time.

It was powerful to see so many emerging artists in the room, alongside so many familiar faces and heavy hitters from LA’s art, entertainment , and literary worlds: Chaz Guest, Dr. Eraka Bath, Janine Sherman Barrios, Cassandra Lane, Amy Dubois Barnett, Bruce Talamon, Michael Massenburg, Glen Andrews, Karis McPherson, Bernard Dillard, April Banks, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwin, and more.

We opened the floor for local artists to introduce themselves and share their IG handles — because community grows when we see each other. And shoutout to Jac Forbes, advisor for Butter Art Fair LA, for sharing the exciting new collaboration between Butter and Nexus SF happening this October.

Deep gratitude to Lynell Bevels, Columbia Bank, and their team for sponsoring the event, and to Black‑woman‑owned P. Harrell Wines for keeping the room lifted.

LA showed up. The community is strong. And everyone is, truly, a collector.
