According to Ayurveda, fall is the most “Vata” time of year- connected to the Air & Ether elements 🌀🌬️

When in balance, this is a time for creativity, expression & release. Out of balance, it can be a time of chaos, instability, and anxiety 🌀🌀

For access to a free webinar & fall guide, comment ELEMENTS✨

So these are the top 5 things I do every fall to stay sane!🍁🍂

1. Eat a grounding breakfast every day- at least 20-30 grams of protein within an hour of waking up 🌞This helps to calm cortisol & anxiety during the fall 🍂

2. Make a big stew! 🍲🥘 Make a big pot of beef, lamb or chicken stew and freeze batches ❤️Have it on hand to warm your digestive system and ground your body

3. Up your warming carminative spices ✨ I always have ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, turmeric, and nutmeg on hand to add to lattes, soups and baked goods 🫚

4. Consider what you’re ready to let go 🌀🌀 Fall is a time for follow through and letting go🍁 Follow through on those projects you’ve been meaning to finish and let go of something that’s been holding you back

5. Make a fire cider! This is a great digestive and immune remedy to keep you well in the fall 🫚🍂 all you need is ACV, fiber, garlic, onions, horseradish and whatever else you want to throw in! Comment ELEMENTS and I’ll send you our fall recipes!

BONUS: practice abhyanga- massage your body head to toe in oil before you shower to detox your lymph and nourish your body 💞

Remember to stay hydrated and take extra time to nourish your body this season ❤️❤️

Abbey Joy

I’m excited for the future :)

I spent a lot of time tagging hundreds of people and found out there’s a limit lol. To everyone tagged, not tagged and not even in the photos, if you’ve interacted with me you’ve most likely played a positive role in my life and I want you to know that I’m grateful for you ❤️

We built an online farmers market so your plate comes from a farmer, not a corporation.

With so much food confusion out there, the one thing that has grounded humans for millennia is eating what’s grown and produced nearby. We make that easy by delivering food from people we know by name, straight to your door.

Tomatoes in summer, field strawberries in spring, cozy soups in winter, and the first hard squashes coming out of the fields this fall… it just makes sense.

This is how I want to eat, and it’s how I want to feed my people, too.

📍 North Carolina grown, Triangle delivered. Link in bio to see if we deliver to you!

Get yourself a bestie who wants to go out on the town on Friday and spend Saturday doing breast massage ✨✨

Breast massage doesn’t have to be all serious and another to-do to add to the list, it can be a fun time with pals!💞💞

For as long as humans have been around, women have gathered to massage their breasts and wombs and care for their bodies 🤲🏻

So grab your favorite oil or cream, your gua sha (or just your hands), and start massaging! Invite your girls over for a movie & massage night 🌙✨

For tutorial videos and guides follow @abbeyjoyhealing and comment HEALTH 🌸🌸

You can also join @abbeyjoyhealing for an online breast health workshop August 26th at 3:30 PT❤️‍🔥 comment WORKSHOP for the deets 🌀

From cyclospora to salmonella, the national food safety headlines are concerning.

But at The Produce Box, we’ve been charting a different way for 17 years.

We partner with over 100 North Carolina farmers and small food producers to offer home delivery of local food through our online farmers market.

We’ve got lettuce from growers we know by name, cage free (and salmonella free) eggs from just down the road, and over 500 local products every week.

This is what it means to eat like you live here.

The farmers benefit, the consumers benefit, and together, we sustain our local food system 🤝

Most food travels 1,500 miles before it reaches your plate.

But not this food.

This short video captures what we mean when we say, “Eat Like You Live Here.”

We're so excited about how this project showcases our work, from local farms ➡️our warehouse ➡️ your kitchen.

A huge thank you to the team at @hopkinshousecreative, including but not limited to @isaacanderson and @reneolmosdp, for all their hard work!

Moving as Mother

My movement practise is a whole new experience - exploring how to move, energetically and physically, after growing a human then pushing said human out (3.8kg worth of human!).

The first few weeks were purely breath work, pelvic floor exercises and yoga nidra.

Slowly walks came in and adding in pushing the pram or wearing my baby alongside the walk.

Week 6 I attended my first twerk class with @swtwerkschool which was divinely ecstatic 🍑

And now at week 7 I tried out our home gym (created purely for our new life with bubba) with exercise bike and weight training.

Breath work and pelvic floor exercises have remained a staple alongside the increasing physical movement.

Im understanding that this stage of my life is the biggest challenge and exploration of strengthening and healing my body.

It requires the deepest listening and responding to my bodily needs I have ever needed.
Plus paired with breast feeding and serious sleep deprivation - it’s the ultimate boot camp!

Looking forward to the creative exploration that lays ahead of me ✨🫶🏻❤️

And learning / hearing from other mothers who have returned to movement post birth x
