So what’s the verdict? Colonizers or not? 👀

For people living under occupation and (neo)colonialism, decolonization is not a metaphor 🗣️

Pax Silica hasn’t broken ground yet, and stopping the project would save the lands and livelihoods of countless Filipino farmers, fisherfolk, workers, and Indigenous communities. Shutting down Pax Silica would also protect the environment and weaken the U.S. war machine 🌱

This moment calls for international solidarity and our unshakable commitment to national liberation! Join the Shut Down Pax Silica campaign network in the link in bio 🤝

🇵🇭 As an immigrant, Filipino American History Month means remembering that I did not arrive here empty-handed.

I came carrying songs.

I came carrying the language of my elders, the stories of a country oceans away, the rhythms I learned before I even knew to call them heritage. I came carrying Kundiman, the songs of my childhood, the voices of those who came before me—and the responsibility of making sure they are not forgotten.

As an immigrant artist, I have learned that sometimes home is something you rebuild through art.

Every time I sing, I am stitching a little piece of the Philippines into the fabric of where I am now. Every stage becomes a crossing of oceans. Every song becomes a way of saying: we were here. We are here. We are still becoming.

Filipino American history is not only a story of migration. It is a story of survival, labor, resistance, longing, and imagination. It is the story of people who crossed oceans and still found ways to bring home with them.

This month, I honor those who carried the torch before me.

And I keep singing— to remember where I came from, and to make sure the light reaches whoever comes next.
