Spring is here and the fridges need restocking 🌱 We put together a summer shopping list of our most-needed items, plus a reminder of how to donate properly so we can keep operating smoothly.

Fresh food goes in the fridge. Canned and boxed goods go in the pantry. No dumping. Label and date your prepared meals. Want to get more involved? Visit our website for more resources, link in bio.

As of right now, OCAB is focused on solutions, not just the problem.

No mother should be worried about how to feed herself or her kids — not in the City of Good Neighbors. We deserve better. But until our systems deliver, our neighbors are delivering.

Here are some local Buffalo resources you can support right now:
🍎 @buffalocommunityfridge
🚲 @coloredgirlsbiketoo
🥫 @feedmorebuffalo
These organizations are providing direct food assistance to families in need.

If the government shutdown continues past Nov. 1, more than 201,000 community members in Western New York will lose access to their SNAP benefits — and that’s unacceptable.
Here’s how you can help:
💵 Donate funds: feedmorewny.org
🥕 Donate food: 91 Holt St., Buffalo, Mon–Fri 8–4 & Sat 8–12
🕒 Donate time: feedmorewny.org/volunteer
🛒 Check Out Hunger: Donate at @wegmans registers through November
Buffalo, we’ve always shown up for each other — let’s keep proving why we’re called the City of Good Neighbors. ❤️

We’re grateful for all the new volunteers ready to help keep Buffalo’s fridges running. As our network grows, remember: consistency is key. There are systems in place to keep every fridge safe, stocked, and sustainable.

If you’ve been to our Ferry fridge lately, you’ve seen it boarded up. After five years of service, repeated damage, and misuse, our hosts and team made the tough call to close the East Ferry Community Fridge. But the work doesn’t stop here. The fridge and shelter are moving to @buffalolovefridge this week and donations now support nearby fridge sites like Merriweather Library and the Resource Council of WNY.

There are 9 community fridges across Buffalo, all powered by neighbors like you. The need is high: if you meet someone at a fridge, encourage them to take what they need and leave some for others. We can’t always guarantee food will be in our fridges as it goes quick so small donations more often go a long way ❤️

Swipe to learn how you can help keep Buffalo’s fridges open, safe, and supported.

It's been a bit of a whirlwind for me lately, but the work doesn't stop! I am so grateful for @katkratochvil, @whippie13 and this crew for taking care of everything at the @connectionstogivingback event on Broadway while my parents visited. Even more grateful to be able to help our neighbors with my parents beside me. Mamma Mc @mary.mcnamara.904 even TOOK OVER packing (she is the boss). Special shout out to @morgantrail @casaazulbuffalo @southernjunction716 and as always @feedtheneed716 for their support.

A few days late, but Betty and I visited some old friends @buffalocommunityfridge @buffalolovefridge @bigherkfridge. We were delighted to see them all so full of beautiful @freshfixwny veggies. We were able to add some delish meals thanks to the one and only @chefredbeerd & our good friends aboard the @miss_buffalo_2. And a huge shout out to all of the @esposcatering meal prep folks who continue to support our goals.

@evcsbuffalo first grade students hosted a food drive last month! Their hard work will allow us to keep our pantries stocked for weeks to come! As an added bonus, peep the adorable, hand decorated bags they made to ease the lives of our patrons! Want to know how to get involved like they did? Find our Slack channel! (Details in our bios!) Thank you to these young leaders for their care and service!!

Hey folks 👋 Many of you know about (and donate to) our collection box for the community fridge donation. From small change to $1, $2, $5 and $10 donations it all adds up and we were able to fill up the fridge with a portion of that money today! (We will be doing more shops with the remainder and continue to collect)! 💸

This is mutual aid, every penny makes a difference in helping our community, and community is what it is all about. 💁
