My youngest, my second baby and second daughter was born on 13th October 2021 - 12 days before her due date. But I felt ready and clearly she did too!

💫 Here’s what I did in the 48 hours before she was born:

My husband and I managed a night away on the 9th. After that I think I really started to focus on mentally preparing for birth. I visualised myself in labour at home and coping with the contractions. I was also feeling excited!

We then met up with friends and took a very long walk in the woods on the 10th. I definitely felt tired afterward! So we got cosy and watched some Strictly together with the fire on. 👌

I had a midwife appointment on the 11th and got to hear my baby’s heartbeat. That never gets old does it! 💜

While walking to collect my eldest from nursery on the 12th there was a beautiful rainbow in the sky. If that wasn’t a sign I don’t know what is! I had finally managed to make time to harvest some colostrum that afternoon and felt a bit crampy by the evening. 🌈

My eldest ended up in bed with us during the night and when I woke early in the morning my waters went! So labour started the same way as with my first on the 13th.

I enjoyed a super long shower whilst my husband got the birth pool ready. My eldest wasn’t due to be in nursery that day and I decided I wanted to keep her with us.

My labour progressed quickly so there wasn’t much time to think of another plan anyway!

My baby was born at home in the pool at 12:13 pm on the 13th! 👶

- I’d love to know what you were doing in the days leading up to your birth?

- What were you drawn to doing? Was there anything in particular you felt started things off?

About Mum & Baby Yoga classes at Birth & More

Firstly, this is Mum AND Baby Yoga not just Bring Your Baby. 🫶

What’s the difference? Well, we incorporate your baby into some of the movements and sing songs to engage them. Your baby will become familiar with the routine - just as you will - which is reassuring for them and means they can anticipate their fave bits!

🌟 Suitable after your postnatal check, 10 weeks after a c-section, or when you’re ready. I find babies under 10 weeks often need to be held more, but this class allows you to dip in and out of the sequence.

🌟 Everything is provided so all you need is a bottle of water for you and a change bag for your baby. Depending on the ages of the babies I can make a padded play area with some toys for them to explore as well.

🌟 These classes aren’t just about the movement and reconditioning your body. We also enjoy breathwork to calm your nervous system and it’s a space to come to each week where you can unwind.

🌟 Each class ends with some social time to chat to other mums whilst babies enjoy some toys.

🌟 Above all Mum & Baby Yoga is all about connecting with yourself, your baby and other mums - and having some fun! I don’t call it my ‘happy chaos’ class for nothing!

Ready to book? Check the link in my bio to join my next term or DM me for the direct link.

See you and your little one in class soon,

Rose

Hills I’ll die on as a Hypnobirthing Instructor 🧘🏼‍♀️

1. I embrace the word “contraction” - it shouldn’t be feared. Expect me to refer to “contractions” in class.

2. I don’t discourage the use of pain-relief whilst practicing Hypnobirthing. Anecdotally, I find saying you “won’t” have an epidural for example, only makes you fixate on it. But it is true, that I provide you with the techniques to better manage the need for pain relief.

3. I will tell you birth is hard work! It’s a physical event, it will push you to your limit - and you will feel your contractions - even when using Hynobirthing. What we aim for when practicing is that you aren’t overwhelmed by your contractions. Plus, being informed helps prevent panic!

4. I will tell you that mindset prep matters just as much as physical prep. Knowledge is power.

5. I will offer and share mum-to-mum coping mechanisms to deal with validated worries and concerns.

If this sounds like the kind of honest, real and practical birth preparation you’d like to help you along your journey into motherhood, please get in touch to find out more about my antenatal classes 👶🏼

I’d love to support you,

Rose
