The best two meals under $100 pp in SF. 💕

1️⃣ @sanhowon
📍2170 Bryant St, San Francisco
👨🏻‍🍳 Chefs Corey Lee @clee_benu + Jeong-In Hwang @jeong.in.sf
⭐️ 1 Michelin Star

It’s a progressive Korean restaurant from Corey Lee’s team, led by chef Jeong-In Hwang.

They have a $118 tasting menu, but I always order à la carte and can usually keep it under $100 pp. I really like their barbecue, and à la carte lets me order more of the meat I want. 🥩

It’s always very busy, so I have two reservation tricks:

👉 Line up at least 30 minutes before they open for a walk-in.
👉 Make a reservation for four people. Four is actually much easier to get than two.

2️⃣ @ernest.sf

📍1890 Bryant St, Suite 100, San Francisco
💡 Entrance is around the back at Florida & Mariposa
👨🏻‍🍳 Chef @brandonrice123

They don’t have a Michelin star but I think the food is Michelin quality.

They have a $99 tasting menu, but I also usually order à la carte.

My favorites are the beef tartare, Parker House rolls, and their cocktails. The ambiance is lovely.

💡 Reservations open 30 days in advance. Walk-ins are limited, so I’d make a reservation.

Both places are also on my list of best date night SF. 💕

Thanks to our permit reforms, San Francisco chef and restaurant owner Brandon Rice has saved time and money before opening his new spot in SoMa. Chef Brandon has run Ernest in the Mission for 5 years, and as he’s opening his second restaurant, he’s been able to breeze through the permitting process.

Before opening Ernest years ago, Brandon spent 3-4 months trying to obtain permits for a space that was not changing use. For his second restaurant, Lawrence, it only took him 3-4 weeks to get all of the permits.

Through PermitSF, we’re cutting red tape, bringing much of the process online, and making it easier to run a business in San Francisco.
