Now available: I Dreamed You Were Here by Jessica Wohl

$30 + $4 for shipping 📬

I Dreamed You Were Here documents Jessica Wohl’s solo exhibition of the same name at the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Using the language of quilting, Wohl transforms the Hunter Museum Mansion Stairwell with layered textile banners made from found garments, linens, and other discarded household items. Her process of disassembling and reusing textiles creates a tactile exchange with the item’s former owner - the new forms that emerge are collaborations with those histories. These pieces address the hidden potential beneath the surface of our day-to-day systems of care, labor, and relationships. In her work, Wohl uses the softness of the material and the intricately stitched text to communicate with the viewer, inviting them to join her in a quiet revolution against exploitation and oppression.

I Dreamed You Were Here features essays by artists Zak Foster @zakfoster.quilts and Brian Hitselberger @brianhitsstudio , whose insights into Wohl’s work and process further illuminate her practice. Also included are facsimiles of Wohl’s embroidered to-do list series I’ll Take Care of It - an intimate look into the care and relationships of the artist herself.

48 pages, color laserprint with single-color riso inserts. Edition of 200.

Interested in a copy? We are more than happy to ship! $30 + $4 for shipping. DM either Brian or Jessica for a a copy.

Although the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art is closed today, Saturday, May 22nd, for the holiday weekend, enjoy this takeover post graciously produced by artist, curator, and Purdue University Professor Brian Hitselberger @brianhitsstudio about his handmade artist books (also for sale in the gallery shop) in “The Zine Scene: A Regional Sampler” closing next Saturday, May 30th, 2026. From Hitselberger: “Two Steps Press @twostepspress is my independent publishing project - I use it as an identity to organize my book and print projects. Based in The Weather Station @the.weather.station in Lafayette, Indiana, Two Steps Press focuses on artist books, exhibition ephemera, and collaborations with other artists, but I also publish my own work through the imprint.
Making a zine after traveling to a place is my way to reflect on it, see it through a new lens, and “revisit” it once I’ve returned home to my studio. For Soft Geometry, I loved the idea of using a Walgreens near my house as a way to generate the material for this piece, and using the format to see only two photos at a time. The contrasts between these images (for me) take me straight back to the weather of these places, and the ways that that weather would change rapidly - sometimes from one hour to the next.”
The New Harmony Gallery is open regular hours Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT.

"If it's the house that protects the dreamer, then it's the interior that sets the stage for the dream. Are these interior fragments stages upon which we too might dream? 'High above Lake Como, Early Spring' describes 'the inner region / which nowhere / touches," while a mass of wire winds its way through the paper, form, and drywall that compose its base," writes Brian Hitselberger. "Wills's language might describe the interiority of the reader, or it might describe the space hidden under the floorboards. SUBWALLS likens each to the other, floods them both with light." View Julie Wills's featured art folio and read Hitselberger's accompanying essay in Spring 2026, in print or online. Link to the issue in our bio.
