FIFTY RACES AS YOUR @hyroxamerica HYPE QUEEN 🎤

And not a day goes by that I’m not thankful for every single one of them.

Five years is a long time to pour your heart into something. There have been plenty of sacrifices along the way, all made out of love for this community.

But every time I show up and see your excited faces, I know I’m home.

Thank you for being my people.

Thank you for being my why.

Cheers to 50 more! ⚔️

Blessed for another year

Saw the world, made memories with my team, and get to live a life telling stories of the people that need to be heard. Cheers to continuing to see the dream all the way through

To my scrap-book loving, picture taking mom that I always ran away from, I hope the irony makes you smile. It’s crazy where passion and a camera can take you

HYROX Washington DC!🥈💃🫶

Had an absolute blast kicking off the new season with some very speedy ladies! 🙌 Thank y’all so much for the unreal support on & off the course!! I’m pumped to come away with a new PR… but we gotta keep working to earn those points for E15. 😜 Already looking forward to the next one!

Hats off to @viviantafuto for an incredible race!! So cool to race with one of the best to ever do it. 👏

30.

A number most people think you’d have your whole life together but doesn’t seem to always fair that way.

A year ago my whole life turned around.
I was stepping away from a life that I thought would have never left me. People, things and desires I tried desperately to hold onto ended up crushing me with barely a trace of those things left now.

Exiting one life into a new one but from ground zero and full of fear. Going from a six figures straight into debt, a full circle of friends to no one, having no one to help me move from Florida to Virginia but my parents who lived 3000 miles away in Canada.

I felt lost, abandoned, and ashamed and when I got settled into my new home I spent my last birthday alone with no one to talk to but my family.

But God…

Met me in the very place I needed him the most. When I was at rock bottom he became my rock, and from that moment on he began to restore my heart of everything I thought I wanted to then desiring nothing but his heart. I searched endlessly, mourned endlessly, doubted endlessly, and struggled endlessly of just wanting to be close to him and I fell and stumbled more times than I can count.

But I made him a promise that no matter how much hell I would go through I would never give up on him.

Because he never gave up on me.

And through time the Lord gave me this new life with all these people. He reminded me that this life we have is a gift and all the things he gives us within it, the talents, skillsets, and relationships are just things we get to steward and to not become prideful of what we have.

You don’t gotta have it all figured out, but you aren’t meant to do it on your own strength or alone. Brokenness is where it started, but was necessary in order to receive blessing.

Lost but now found.

Having my season cut short because my body legit shut down in January was straight up jarring, and not getting to demonstrate the running capacity I developed after working so hard just sucked, but what really broke my heart was the loss of camaraderie in chasing a world’s elite qualification with someone special to me.

That said, it helped me learn boundaries in a new way; I muted every Hyrox account to give myself space to heal & grieve and also took needed time to evaluate my mixed feelings about the sport.

The community is incredible, the challenge of developing a new physical ability of endurance running (coming from a sprint background) was super cool, and I loved getting to experience each facet of Hyrox in AG, elite15, & representing Team Canada.

I also cherished getting to share the journey with teammates - travelling the world, bonding over the highs & lows, and being in the trenches together.

However, I struggled with the social media piece. I felt suffocated by the inundation of Hyrox content to the extent that I wondered if people, myself included, were racing for the love of it or for the media correlated.

And I felt frustrations of rules being enforced for some athletes but not others, inconsistent courses, changes in sleds/turf diminishing the strength equalizing component of this “hybrid” event, the possibility of being screwed by a new rule enacted post race or by a pissy judge and, lastly, that the new pay to play model creates a heightened financial burden & risk of injury/burnout for athletes due to increased race demands.

I love racing, but I now find it difficult to reconcile committing hundreds of hours & thousands of dollars to a sport claiming to “professionalize” when the first major next year is a time trial on a boat.

All this to say, what Hyrox has created is remarkable and I’m so grateful for the opportunities it’s given me, the growth it’s fostered, & knowing this journey was essential to becoming who I need to be to achieve the goals I now have in sight. I appreciate beyond words everyone who’s been part of this adventure and I’ll be around for fun races but as of now I have no desire to practice burpees ever again.
