Bittersweet: that's the word I would use to describe this life. Hard work yields big rewards.
The last couple of years have been distilled into this 90 second clip. Tear it down. Build it up. Laugh. Cry. Destroy. Create. And of course, 90 seconds isn't enough to sum up everything.
Yesterday marks 5 years since I said goodbye to Jesse's physical presence. But our dreams are still here.. still growing. I could not live this dream without the support from my little cooperative, presently and over the years past. There's not enough words to truly express my deep appreciation.
This life made possible by:
@brichesler for being my emotional support human and best friend through thick and thin. We've seen some shit together.
@yeahsharvin for his incredible work ethic, immense skill set and dedication to the dream.
@tanner_weiss_glass for showing up during the hard times and still remembering and honoring this history.
@velvet_nugget_studios & @taylorames2please
thank you for being a part of our little compound in its humble beginnings and being a part of this journey

Here's to Top Hat Glassworks!! New furnace is hot!!

for those of you that don’t know (though at this point I’ve probably called about 50% of you for a quote lol), I’ve been writing for @glassquarterly magazine for about 1.5 years. I started glassblowing twelve years ago and recently studied journalism and publishing at university. I’ve always felt split between the two: glass and writing. for a long time, it felt like I had to choose one and abandon the other in order to succeed, but I couldn’t—I’m too stubborn. and then I found the magazine.

writing for glass magazine has made me more confident as a reporter and writer, while also bringing me closer to a community that I love and respect so dearly. in marrying my two passions, I’ve been able to be a bridge, for more than just myself.

I am always so immensely grateful when people trust me with their stories, their time, and their art. hearing your stories and then getting to transform and share them with the community, and those interested or invested in this community, is an honor and a joy. not to mention that representing some of the amazing things happening in this region on a global platform is such a privilege. and thank you specifically to @jasonmcdonald42 @instantglassic @brichesler @danfriday for trusting me to spotlight your inspiring work.

I love art. I love writing. I love glass. I love this community. I love the pacific northwest. and I love print media!

while I promise this wasn’t meant to be a sales pitch, I would be remiss if I didn’t say to please consider purchasing a subscription (we also have a digital subscription! though ofc I’m biased and think physical copies are so much better—keep print media alive!) if you are able and interested in what is happening in the glass world. you can also buy some past issues if you want to read any of my articles shared here. and if you have any questions about the magazine or my work, etc, feel free to shoot me a message :) so grateful to @glassquarterly for this opportunity, and for those of you that read it!

okay, now I have to get back to writing.
❤️❤️❤️
