Happy National Album Day! Finally album no.3! Still so much to share about this album- it’s the first original music I’ve written in 15 years since I returned from my hiatus and it’s features new collabs with Jim Lowe @shadowhands_production and @brightlightx2 as well as the amazing engineer and mixer Mr David Pickering. I didn’t know what this album was going to be until I started it but it became something grown up and uplifting melancholy. There’s so much more life left in this album and I wish I had promoted it more at the time but life got in the way, as I’m sure you’ll know… I like to think of ‘Swim’ as an undiscovered gem, a cult classic, inspired by Kate Bush, Joni, Robyn and even a bit of Bo Pepper… #nationalalbumday #alexisstrum #singersongwriter #popmusic #musicdiscovery photo taken @banquetrecords 2025

Nothing on earth beats a mid afternoon snuggle from Quince. To anyone who is sceptical to find an animal at a shelter because you “don’t know what you’ll get” adopting vs buying - this is what you get 🧡 #adoptdontshop❤️ #rescuecat #rescuecatsofinstagram #rescuecats

HMS Morris – “Launderette”
Well, someone has been rummaging around in the 1980s dressing-up box, and frankly we're rather glad they did.

HMS Morris have produced the sort of pop record that arrives wearing shoulder pads, carrying a suspiciously large mobile phone in a case and probably owes several thousand pounds to American Express. “Launderette” is glossy, twitchy, gloriously over-dressed 80s pop, complete with enormous synth pads, driving bass, big drums and guitars that appear to have been instructed to behave very expensively.

And then there's Bright Light Bright Light, popping up as the mysterious Launderette Man, dispensing suitably sinister vocals as though he's just stepped out of a neon-lit boardroom where someone has been quietly cooking the books.

The clever bit is that beneath all the shiny nonsense lurks a rather sharp idea: greed, excess and the small matter of getting someone else to clean up the mess. It's theatrical, catchy and knowingly ridiculous.

Verdict: Dirty laundry. Clean pop. Absolutely filthy fun.
