ARWC 2026

Really difficult to find the words for last week.
8 days of traversing the crystal clear Mediterranean waters to the highest peaks of Corsica.

Insanely brutal but oh so rewarding.
Beyond grateful for our team of 4 and how we kept moving when the going got tough and being present enough to enjoy all the moments in between.

@brundle3 never fading from the man we know him as. Happy, energetic and caring for those around him. Kept us on track and heading in the right direction with incredible focus. Not often your navigator becomes your packhorse, but that is exactly what he did and offered help to everyone when the going got tough.

@petrusmaree leading by example with his calm presence and strength. Also making sure we focused when we needed to and had a laugh when we didn’t need to. He also became our team doctor 👨‍⚕️

@georgia.grobler luckily still my fiance 😉. Showing us boys what it means to be resilient and strong even in the toughest of circumstances. Carrying all of her own gear plus team kit and still keeping the vibes high and making sure we don’t fall asleep on the move 🤣
On the last night our race nearly fell apart when Georgie fell horribly ill. She slept it out and somehow found the strength to not only continue but also to lead the way in the later stages of the last day.

Wouldn’t change a single thing in our prep and the race itself. Some highs will be near impossible to replicate but loved the simplistic way of focusing on basics with just the 4 of us.

Some stats:
- 187 hours / 7.8 days
- 647km
- 18673m gain
- 24h sleep total
- 22nd out of 100 teams provisionally
- 1st South African team

Incredibly grateful for @suzigiliomee making a surprise appearance and making sure to give us just the correct words of encouragement when we needed them most.

Thank you to everyone who followed along on the WhatsApp group, your support was felt every step of the way. As well as all the other South Africans out on course.

Cheers to new friends and memories that will last a lifetime.
Think I might leave my bike in its box for while now 🥱

MEET THE TEAM - @georgia.grobler 💥

We start with a weapon of mass destruction, and an ever smiling gees generator!

1) What’s your role in the team?
To remind my teammates to look up and take in the beauty around us (and have a snack at the same time).

2) What has been the most exciting/enjoyable part of the journey in the lead up?
Learning new skills, acquiring equipment I didn’t know even existed, making special memories with my teammates and spending time in nature.

3) What are you most looking forward to in Corsica?
Being completely cut off from the outside world … focusing only on one step, stroke, rock at a time. Also… those mountain views are going to be spectacular! Of course - making memories of a lifetime with salt-of-the-earth teammates (let’s hope Ben and I are still engaged after the week is done🤣).

4) Are you nervous, & what are you most nervous for?
YES - More nervous than I think I’ve ever been for anything in my life 🤣 Mostly nervous about the unknown of it all. The unknown of how my body will handle the ultimate test of endurance and being in a situation where I can never fully prepare for it.

5) What’s your superpower?
I can consume banana bread at any time in any moment in any environment. (Has to have a good chunk of butter of course)

6) What else should we know about you &/or this journey? (Ideally something no one knows about you?)
I have sprained more ankles in my preparation than I care to admit 🤣 (and they will be taped up for the entire race).

3 weeks to go… @arworldseries | @raidinfrance
